I'm an old codger. That means that I saw TOS on first run TV !!! But, oddly, I don't feel old or look old. 5' 11" @ 200 lbs / work out on my home gym to keep toned (Total Gym - I highly recommend it) / hazel eyes / no gray in my short medium brown hair. Clean shaven. I loved reruns of TOS until TNG. Fell head over heels in love with it, in fact I recorded nearly all of the 175 episodes. Liked DS9 but did not follow it very closely. Again, fell in love with VGR (nearly all on tape). The current 'Enterprise' series is good but not great. I'm thinking that Berman & Bragga are tired of Trek and may need to hand it over to a fresh team. What do you think of that ?? Born in the mid 50's in Norfolk VA, only child with isolated awkward childhood. Escaped into sci-fi / fantasy. College at VA Tech (Biology major) and got out of my shell. Dropped out of college, variety of low level jobs: hospital tech, machinist, maintenance man, etc. Married for 20+ years / divorced Enlisted in Army ('84 - '88) / Ft. Riley KS , Camp Hovey Korea / Just missed the Vietanam war draft Been in the Mid West for 20 yrs and HATE it here / long for mountains and streams and camping With military education $ finished Biology degree (Associates) then Bus Admin (Bachelor) Hope to move to the Great Northwest (Seattle area) within the year. (Fingers crossed) Love to banter around fantastic ideas with you young folks 'cause I am young of mind. Very open and nonjudgemental, pretty weird for an old foogy like me. ;D SO, LET'S EXPLORE THIS UNIVERSE OF OUR WITH OUR MINDS !!!!!!! Riva

It is a pleasure to have you aboard Riva! I do think it is time for a new writing team to take over Enterprise, and Star Trek all together. No matter how much you love something, over time your creativity may wear out, and you may loose toch with your audience as time change, such I think is the case with Berman & Bragga. ~Myke

Thanks, little devil (if I may call you that - your user name is hard to spell) and I hope that your life is cheerier than mine. You are a young man, but your profile is rather empty so I don't know if I am going to insult you with my next comment: I INTENSELY DISLIKE THESE FOLKS IN THE MID WEST !!!!! (Where are you from anyway ??) It is the only place that I have lived where ignoring a person is considered polite. My mother was from here (specifically a small farm in the middle of Illinois) and she was the most distant and aloof woman I have ever known. She never wanted kids and never held me that I can remember. When I was about 3 yrs old, she firmly told me to stop calling here 'Mommy' and to only call her 'Mother' . . . . .3 YRS OLD !!! And all that was based on HER only child upbringing near Decatur Ill. So I actually view the MidWest as 'THE SCENE OF THE CRIME' . . . . repressive child rearing and emotional maiming. My father was not much better. He was a fake and phony man that chased after the almighty $ and ignored his family. They both moved to Illinois to wait for my wealthy grammy to die and that is when I said goodbye for keeps. Moved away and totally cut off contact with them 20 years ago and have not regretted a minute of it. Also these folks in Wichita (300,000 people, but really just a big burg - small town thinking) don't give a rat's tush about education and my college degrees (cum laude). If you haven't done the same job for 10 yrs then they don't want you. AND if you are not local, then you are marginalized into crappy jobs. These people are generally either old farmers or factory workers. They are culturally isolated and whatever their parents did and thought is what is right now. So they are complacent, lazy, self-absorbed, self-righteous, resist new people and ideas and are cliqueish. They just don't want me around but I'm stuck economically. I make just enough $ to get by and not much else. I can save some money 'cause I boards with a Latino family and I work at SAM'S Club. Thinking back to my childhood, I remembered that one of the things that kept me afloat emotionally was trees and streams, the great outdoors never judged me or rejected me but always welcomed me. And so I thought of transferring within SAM'S to the great northwest and my 'family' told me that Seattle was a great place to go (they had lived just west of Olympia for several years). So that is my current plan. Riva

And a good plan it is Riva. Sorry to hear about your parents, but the important thing is you strive to be better then them, and have succeeded. They sound self richious, and I know a few people like that myself.
