Im merely wondering what other people's opinions are of this theory.
I think it makes perfect sense, a new universe branching off every time a choice/chance comes along that could have gone another way.
There are also these findings about particles that seem to disappear and reappear somewhere else. Some scientists in fact claim that what is happening is one particle has moved to a parallel universe while a one from a parallel universe has appeared somewhere else to replace it. Im just going to have a look about, see if I can find any articles on it

Now youre talking my language!! I'm absolutley fascinated with things like this, quantum physics, time travel, ect. In fact, there is a thread in the Trek forum called 'an interesting paradox' that somehow got off topic, and is dealing with the mechanics of time travel, interesting stuff. I believe in parlalel universes as well. Even if it's to simply believe, but yes I do. I think it is a fascinating concept that every action we do branches off into unlimited universes for every possable outcome of our actions. If you think of how many decisions you make a day, and how many people there are in the world, and all of those universes intertwined, and feeding off of each other, the amount that would be out there would toally be mind boggeling, beyond any hope of human comprehension. Pretty much infinate. And I know what you are talking about with the particles. I cannot quite remember where I heard about it though. I think hier experiment involved a solid object of some sort, and the particles were able to travel though the opbject, which suggested they were slightly out of phase with our own space tme continuum. And the switching of the particles too, one from our universe in exchange for one from another. Absolutly facinating!! Makes me wonder where this will lead. I forget though, was this a natural occurence? Yes, I'd love to see those articles!!

Oh yes, parallel universes. If indeed there are other "lives", where we would encounter our counterparts, how many parallel universes would there be? An infinite number? And would every one of "me" really be different in that each one of "me" is going a different path because none of "me" are bound to being just "me" but can individually choose, which way to take? If you follow my meaning... LOL

I think billions and billions of them would be almost so similiar to our own universe that we wouldnt notice much of a difference. Then again, there would be billions and billions of them where our counterparts are dead, or has never been born.
And in some the dinosaurs would still exist.

The thing I love when thinking about parallel universes is the thought that they must be infinite, and if they are infinite, everything is possible, which means things like books, somewhere out there, that story has actually happened. Tis a kinda cool thought, that perhaps in another world I am actually learning magic or something. *Grins* Mind you, in some other world I dont exist... poor poor world, all without me Hehe...
I swear I will have a look for those parallel universe articles at some point...

That is an intersting thought huh! In some universes I could be a famous Sci-Fi director as well!! Bigger then Speilburg and Lucas! Unlikely though,

Wow... thanks for that link, M. Gosh... it was shown already 2 years ago. I like the new theory about the Big Bang. And I know where I will book my next trip to... Parallel Universe number 65. ;D

Iv just started writing an essay on M-theory, have to have it done before school. I dont have to do it, but our teacher simply said if you want to go to Cambridge or Oxford, you will show you are commited by writing an essay. You dont have to, but i will know then that you are not commited. Iv been trying to find something to write about for ages and I think this is the perfect thing. Hope noone minds but I shall post the finished result up for you to all read and get your opinions

This bit at the bottom:
A creative touch
Now imagine what might happen if two such bubble universes touched. Neil Turok from Cambridge, Burt Ovrut from the University of Pennsylvania and Paul Steinhardt from Princeton believe that has happened. The result? A very big bang indeed and a new universe was born - our Universe. The idea has shocked the scientific community; it turns the conventional Big Bang theory on its head. It may well be that the Big Bang wasn't really the beginning of everything after all. Time and space all existed before it. In fact Big Bangs may happen all the time.
Of course this extraordinary story about the origin of our Universe has one alarming implication. If a collision started our Universe, could it happen again? Anything is possible in this extra-dimensional cosmos. Perhaps out there in space there is another universe heading directly towards us - it may only be a matter of time before we collide.

I never did believe the Big Band started space and time. I am a beliver in that 'nothing' is impossable. Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe the Universe to be infinate. I believe the space-time has always been there, and it was the big bang that gave birth to the matter as we know it in the universe, the stars, the planets, the nebulas, ect. I just cany buy that nothing existed before the big bang. I also feel while the universe is infinite, the know universe is only the result of this big bang. On an infinate plane, over an infinate period of time, there is no limit to how many groups of matter (such as our known universe) there is. The next group could be 1 billion times the radious of our known universe away. Am I making sence? Imagine a vast ocen. That is space time. Every so often, there is an island. One of those islands we percieve as the known universe, but 500 miles away, there is another island. These islands do not represent galaxies, but the billions of galaxies that make up what we call out known universe, a cluster of matter. But yeah, I believe the plane of space time is infinite. It lawys has been, and it always wil be, both in time and distance. My little Earth brain cannot let me see how it can be anything else. Now parallel universes, thats another story. I completly beielve in them, on different dimesional planes, which has nothing to do with the infinity of our own universe. LOL so if I made any sence there, yeah, I can agree with that theory completly!!

If there are parallel universes, that my evil twins are living in one of them - or it could be I am the evil twin and the other one in the parallel universe he is really nice guy who never goes around flirting with every girl he meets and gets so drunk in parties that others have to drive me home. If there is a parallel universe, does that mean that there are parallel souls?

I dont know... never thought of it like that. I mean, if your religious and at the same time believe in parallel universes, lets say you believe in heaven. Is there just the one heaven for all universes or a seperate one for each universe? Interesting thought that...

I would say each stays within their own universe. Otherwise it would become too cpmlicated. If there is a heaven, and I make it there, I'm not so sure I'd want to see billions of me's running around.
