That has to be a trip huh, to know youre gonna be stationed at Area 51. That would be quite exciting for me if that reaality ever came to be. Secret planes, UFO's, Area 51 not exisitng, all of that really makes one wonder, if nothing's there, as 'they' say, then why deny it's existance? If they really are only test experimental aircraft, it's still useless to deny it's existence as I'm sure every government in the world has heard about about it by now, both friends and foes.
I too hope your friend returns home safely from Iraq.

OK, it seems through a little more research that the Nellis AFB actually SURROUNDS Groom Lake. The Groom Lake Site is a perfect spot for Area 51 since it is "a base within a base."
Just once, I wish the government would give us the answers...

I come from a Military back ground and really have to say that if your friend is smart, especialy after you posting that on here, that he won;t say anything else. At the very least he could have his top secret clearance revoked, for thats what you have to have to gtet a pcs to somewhere like that. My Ex came very close to getting stationed at Nellis and another friend whom I will not name did quite a bit of work for on of the top brass out there before transferring to the base where we were stationed at . When you are dealing with the government and the millitary you had better be carefull that you don;t inadvertently give your friends away. Its all well and good to sit around an discuss things in person with someone , but unless you have balls of iron, and don;t mind making your friends targets, its best not to give any names when discussing things so openly as this board. Uncle Sam IS listening, he may not have his ear your way at the moment but if enough 'key words' are used within a set amount of time he will ..BTW I have a lot of friends over there too and I wish that they all make it back in one piece.
well now that most of you must think Iam paranoid, lol I think I am going to hush now.

I used to have a top secret clearance in the military....and we had some classified lines with some "secret" bases that no one was supposed to know about....i worked in satellite communications...and I always tried listening in on the lines to see if anything good was being said....but i never heard anything....the line wasn;t in constant use....was kinda like a high priority secret line that was only used when needed...

trying to listen in on lines? or the job? actually they were both great...I loved satellite communications...I worked on the big 60 ft satellite dishes....had to know operations AND repair of everything. so i became a tech/plumber/mechanic/electrician/everything else. I would love to get into that field again. and while listening in for the top seceret lines became boring after a while I did find it fun to listen in to people phone calls. I was stationed in germany and ALL overseas comm went thru us before being sent back stateside....so whenever someone would call the states or vice versa....all we had to do was take and put a patch cable into that line and pick up a phone and we could listen to everything being said....lol so now u know...whenever u make a phone call....u may have some bored tech somewhere listening in on ur call..lol

LOL, in that case, I bet it was alot of fun for some reason I imagined that you heard a whole bunch of nothing. Yes, everytime i'm on the phone, I wonder if someone is listening in, and most of the time, they probably are, lol. ~Myke

Scroll up and look at my previous post about the Nellis Air Force Range. I've done a bit of digging via Yahoo and Google searches and it turns out that Matt, my Marine buddy, was apparantly stationed at Area 51 itself! It seems that a couple of years ago, a Russian spy satellite took some photos of the Nellis Base and the goverment had to release a bunch of info saying that it was not Area 51, and Area 51 doesn't exist, and even though it was minutes away from Groom Lake, that there was no validity to any Area 51 stories. They just said that they test experimental aircraft there and that's it. Yeah right!! Unfortunately Matt is in Iraq right now and I can't ask him to verify anything or give me any more info......I hope he makes it back alright. Area 51 is just a testing site for top secret aircraft. They are being so secretive because they only want the U.S. to have the designs, no other countries. Do you know why people claim to see UFOs at an experimental aircraft base? Because they have never seen those crafts before, and jump to the irrational conclusion that it must be an alien.

If there was anything at Area 51, extra terrestrial, it is long gone now, that much I'm sure of.

Also, once Area 51 became such a public topic and all of that, whatever remained, if anything, was certainly moved. I believe today Area 51 is nothing more then for experimental air craft, like you stated. Perhaps other experiments as well, something along the lines of the Philadelphia Experiment, but of course that is my imagination, and willful thinking, I have nothing to base that theory on.

Years ago when I was young and totally clueless about UFOlogy I had an acquaintance who was assigned to Area 51. He told me, obviously (in hindsight) expecting me to pepper him with questions about the Roswell goings-on. He was disappointed Not one of my shining moments. Part of my clueless problem was that I WAS clued in to vague rumors about the aircraft being tested, and could care less. Another fighter jet? So what? Aside for some unfortunate deaths during the flight tests . Was I ever surprised when the stealth fighter didn't turn out to be just another fighter jet. There's a town called Gulf Breeze in Florida. It's situated between two Air Force bases and a Naval Air base. Despite the number of false alarms, some people in that town were/are convinced they lived in Galactic Central. There were some hoaxes, too. Dave Barry did some columns on the hoaxes a few years ago.

Ah,
Area 51...... I thought about trying to get a job there one time.
Though im no expert of the whole UFO thing, but my theory on this on is simple.
The revealing of its location was intentional, as for all the media attention. I belive that they are hideing somthing WAY more complex either below the grounds of the base or at another location. But they are trying to focus all the attention of thier "Airfields" and whatever else is on the top grounds of the facillity.
The reason Im assumeing a litteral underground operation is that durring world war two the german army did a similar thing with thier defences along the siegfiled and gustav lines etc.... basicly thier defence areas were underground bases within themselves that were almost self sufficient. These areas could easily house some form of weapons and development department.
Now just think how technology has improved since then, we most likely could have improved on that area of engeneering and we are probably using it extensively....
This lil wild tangent I just went on might have some holes in it.. and if it does tell me, I'd like to know so we could talk about this theory some more. Though like I said, im no expert..
Dare to think? ¤U.C.¤
