Wow this is interesting. Brown really had better hope he is right though, or he will really regret saying:
I read in New Scientist recently that they think there could be a whole host of new planets out there in our Solar System so maybe this is the first confirmation of that.

Yes, I heard about it on the news today. The thing is, it has been speculated ages ago that there is a 10th planet. And who knows how many more there may be. More will be revealed each time the telescopes get more powerful.

I remember when my science teacher in 10th grade insisted that Pluto had no moon, even though the textbooks all said it.
Pluto to me isn't really a planet, I tend to think it was a captured moon of Neptune that escaped(much like our moon will do in millions of years) and now drifts away, but still acts like a moon as it switches places with Neptune all the time.

I've always held no position on Pluto being a planet...and this discovery simply doesn't help matters any, because it's twice the size of Pluto minimum, very possibly more. I sometimes wonder if Pluto is not simply a comet with a very wide orbital pattern...

I've often watching tv shows about astronomers and scientists speculating about something orbiting the sun beyond Pluto, they all said it was something larger than Pluto. There were some that said there was a planet and others said a black hole (I don't think a black hole would orbit, but that is just me).

If it is a black hole I'm pretty sure that we would be orbiting it (or being sucked imto it for that matter).

If there was a black hole, we would already know, because Voyager got past that point and is at the end of the solar system now

If there was a black hole, we would already know, because Voyager got past that point and is at the end of the solar system now Although I'm not a believer in the black hole theory, that's not necessarily true. If Voyager left the system at a trajectory that took it, say, opposite the location of the black hole, we wouldn't detect it. If there were a black hole out there (again, I don't believe this) then I highly doubt it would rotate fast enough to where no matter Voyager's trajectory, it would be detected.
