well..one interesting theory is that this is not the first incarnation of our universe. this could be the billionth even. they have done studies that conclude that even though the universe is technically still expanding eventually gravity is going to start pulling everything back in.....until it reaches the point where everything gets sucked back into the point of origin of the universe then BANG it explodes again. now you really have to have no concept of time to understand how long that would take....but it is possible out universe could have contracted an infinte number of times by now and exploded out again. kinda wild thought aint it...also...i kind of wonder if its possible we originally came from mars...they have proof there was water there once now....what if mars looked like earth at one time....but there was a natural disaster or a war or something like that that forced everyone to leave mars and crash land on earth or something. can u imagine if these robots on mars were to find ruins of old buildings or fossils or something? talk about blowing peoples minds. I think this theroy is plausabe, think of it this way: there was once 2 species of humans on earth neandertals and the modern homo sapiens the neandertals died out because the homosapiens were stronger and cleverer, perhaps it was the homo sapiens that came from mars or perhaps the other way round, perhaps in many many generations from now we will be forced to move again from a natural global disaster such as a metior shower or something. Venus is aparently like a young version of the earth would we go there or invade a different galaxy? Perhaps those beings that we speak of that move on when they run out of natural resources is us. Perhaps we consumed all the resources on mars and poluted its atmosphere then moved onto earth....

I believe first contact will happen secretely. No one will know for a while after it occirs because the US Govt or any Govt for that matter isn't going to want mass chaos on the street. I agree with you on that one. There’re way too may nutters in this world, with at lot believing that god put us here and so on (not that their nutters, they just believe in different things). But it would bring a lot in to question. I think that any first contact will be feared by the majority of the population. A First contact could also be an invasion. Many sci fi stories tell of species' who exust thier own natural resources and seek new resources from other planets, so they may invade us for our fossil fuels or whatever. Perhaps they too are a carbon based lifeform, and need oxygen, water, ect. and thier planets star is dying, making thier civilization old enough to have the technology to reach Earth. ~Myke This I would find hard to believe. If they did come to earth looking for fossil fuels they would have to a think race for aliens. If they did come I think it would be only to kill or greet. There are heaps of resources in the universe, why take the time to come to some backward plant like ours .

Who knows, but the more I think about it, the more I think that if they did have the technology to reach other planets, then it would be likely that they have the technology to develop some type of fuel that dosen't rely on natural resources.

I recon they would have discovered a renewable energy source by that point

True, I don't think that extra-terrestrials that have technology to fly from galaxy to galaxy or whatever would be relying on non-renewable resources, unless they use a system in which they take over a planet and steal all of its resources or something like that. I wonder what kind of technology they would have...

Let's go on to time travel... Currently, there are 4 types of temporal structures (to my knowledge) in science fiction. [a href="http://www.xibalba.demon.co.uk/jbr/chrono.html#qsci Click here"]http://www.xibalba.demon.co.uk/jbr/chrono.html#qsciClick here[/a] My idea(a combinaton of type 3 amd 4) is that when a loose-end paradox occurs, Two or more entangled universes arise, (perhaps joined by a wormhole), where one universe can affect the other.

Greek Mythology has the story of how Kronos the Titan was devouring his children - the Greek gods, then Kronos was given stone instead of a child and the result was that he threw up and all the Greek gods came out of Kronos' belly intact, then he was given some kind of poison which help expel more of he Greek gods and eventually kill him. The Titans preceded the Greek gods. The strange part of this story is that this story could have been told by aliens to humans - to explain the workings of the universe. Kronos is none other than a supermassive blackhole which sucked all matter and energy and distorted time. But specific elements in this convulated uninverse could not be 'eaten' by the black hole and effects of the black hole were reversed and all matter and energy of the universe reverted to its original place. There could be something about Greek mythology mirrors modern science in some distroted. way.

My idea is that very, very far into the future we will become the invaders instead of us getting invaded. I can reasonably see us going to another creature's planet and taking over. By then our planet will be wasted and we will use the last of our fuel to overtake another planet that can support us, all thanks to the idiots that are running it now.

on the first contact idea....why would any respectable, advanced civilization want to touch our planet with a 20 million lightyear pole? What do we have to offer them?

The current theory is that the universe is the result of the 'Big Bang'. If that is case then it would mean that a super large object existed in space which exploded The force of the explosion was os great that everything was thrown off several light years away form everything else. The force of the big bang was so intense that all energy and matter moved beyond the spped of light then to slow down in the vast emptiness of space. Another theory is that nothing can move faster than the speed of light, how does that explain that the stars and galaxies several light years away from eachother. There must have been some means which enabled them the distances which they did. For the present we do not have the means and the technology to reach the nearest star, it takes several years to reach theplanets within our solar system.

What I'm thinking is that if there was any other intelligent life out there, it would sat away from us.
Look what we do to our own race! Murder, secrecy, war.
And then, an alien race comes along. What do we do? "By golly! It's not human! let's kill it before it takes our oil/coal/water." Maybe all they wanted to do was help us. However, humans don't seem to have the capacity to think along those lines before we slaughter someone.
