Somehow, several astronauts return to Earth infected. Of course the Aliens burst out and escape, a queen develops in in unseen area, produces some eggs that infest more people resulting in more drone aliens. All of this before the world is aware.
This can happen in any country, Australia, The UK, The US, etc.
What I'm getting at is, several dozen or hundred aliens were running around, and maybe several hundred or thousand facehuggers running around on our planet, could we Humans stop them w/out destroying our cities and planet with Nuclear weapons?
What do you think, how would events pan out?

I dunno, my guess is that American would get wind of it, and say "hey, i've got an idea! let's bomb the crap out wherever's infected, and keep bombing them until we're sure it's clear!"

But seriously, if we had aliens like that running around wild here on Earth, I would arm myself and hope for the best. Never mind destroying cities with nuclear weapons (and it doesn't always have to be nuclear weapons, I am sure there are other weapons that can be used), we should also think of the effect it has on this planet if we try to kill those aliens by injuring them. They bleed, after all, acid. I would suggest to give every person a gas mask, tell them to get into bunkers, and then deploy military airplanes to drop nerve gas bombs or whatever can kill them without actually injuring them. ;D

That's a pretty good plan, Val. But could we really get 6 billion people into safety?
Also, what would be done to those who were infected, would they be left out to die by the gas, or would they be humanly euthanized?

Drifting in space for 57 years, until someone found us by pure luck. AND... being as young as the day I went to sleep in that escape pod. ;D Regarding your question, Myke. I have the feeling that there won't be much time nor the interest, I'm afraid, to kill those infected in a humane way. I suppose the doctors can hand out a quick working poising for those who want to end it quickly. And I don't think we can save all 6 billion people either, but if humans were to have at least a chance to survive, that's the only way I can see it will work. Of course, since we are talking about an Earth with such a technology as in the Alien movies, we can ship a considerable amount of people into space, the space station, and perhaps other terraformed planets while we gas the world...

Lol, have fun breathing OXYGEN for 57 years ;D You don't breathe pure oxygen. It's a mixture of mainly nitrogen (about 78%), and oxygen (about 21%), that makes the air breathable.

I would also imagine in hypersleep/suspended animation one would need very little to breathe as well.

I would also imagine in hypersleep/suspended animation one would need very little to breathe as well. If they are put into suspended animation, then no, they won't need much of that. But I am not so sure there will be enough cryo chambers around for all those people. However, I can't see that they can't live off astronaut foods and such. Perhaps they even have invented the replicator at that time.
