Several scenarios
1) If you were one of the crew of the Nostromo, and you were asked by 'Mother' to go down to the planet below (LV-426) and investigate, what would your decision have been?
--- --- ---
2) When Kane was brought back to the ship, with a facehugger attached to his... well... face, would you
a) open the door and let them in or
b) leave them outside until you have decided what to do (what is your decision?) or
c) let them in
or what would you have done differently? Gotten Kane into quarantine perhap?
--- --- ---
3) When Kane's chest burst open and the alien escapes, what would you have done to keep yourself and the others from getting killed?

For those of you who can't quite remember the crew of the first movie, here they are:
Dallas (Captain)
Ripley (Warrant Officer)
Lambert (Navigator)
Brett (Engineering Tech)
Kane (Executive Officer)
Ash (Science Officer)
Parker (Chief Engineer)
Jones (the cat)

Oooh, i love this 1) If you were one of the crew of the Nostromo, and you were asked by 'Mother' to go down to the planet below (LV-426) and investigate, what would your decision have been? Most likely not, I'm too claustrophobic 2) When Kane was brought back to the ship, with a facehugger attached to his... well... face, would you a) open the door and let them in or b) leave them outside until you have decided what to do (what is your decision?) or c) let them in or what would you have done differently? Gotten Kane into quarantine perhap? brought kane iun, and quarantined him3) When Kane's chest burst open and the alien escapes, what would you have done to keep yourself and the others from getting killed? jumped into the damn escape pod and screwed the others!

Most likely not, I'm too claustrophobic jumped into the damn escape pod and screwed the others! The first answer is a bit strange. b) refers to leaving them outside until you have decided what to do. What has this got to do with being claustophobic? And one thing is for certain... your last answer made me decide that I would never want to partner up with you. LOL

--I would have done thourough scans to make sure that he wass't a threat to the crew.
3) When Kane's chest burst open and the alien escapes, what would you have done to keep yourself and the others from getting killed?
--Once the Alien broke out and I figured out that it was hostile, I would launch an escape pod.
2) When Kane was brought back to the ship, with a facehugger attached to his... well... face, would you
--b)Leave him outside until I decided what to do.
-I would have scanned him for anything that can be a danger to the crew or myself

I would have probably went to investigate. It does not seem that there are many other non-earth species running around our galaxy in the alien universe, certainly not any things like xenomorphs as no one believed Ripley in Aliens. So I would have followed orders to investigate.
2) When Kane was brought back to the ship, with a facehugger attached to his... well... face, would you
b) leave them outside until you have decided what to do (what is your decision?)
That creature would have no of been brought on board. I wouldn't be thinking of it being a danger in the sense that it was, but would be concerned with micro pathogens that it may be carrying that could kill us all. But of course my decision wouldn't have mattered, as Ash would have let them in anyway, ignoring me like he did Ripley.
3) When Kane's chest burst open and the alien escapes, what would you have done to keep yourself and the others from getting killed?
At fist I would have done nothing differently. The drone was little, seems like it could hav been killed with a shoval. So alas I think I would have suffered the same fate as everyone else, not realizing the threat that the alien was.
However, once it's size was confimed, I would have left on an escape pod with or without everyone else, a lot sonner then they tried to leave.

But of course my decision wouldn't have mattered, as Ash would have let them in anyway, ignoring me like he did Ripley. You could be right there. He would have disregarded your orders anyway. I would have left Kane outside. Thrown a tent or something at them and said, make yourself comfortable until we have decided what to do. Then, I would probably have given them a capsule where they could put Kane into (there must be something like that (a coffin perhaps), before they brought Kane on board. The reason they didn't take the escape pot right away was because at that time not all of them would have fit into it. It only takes 3, I believe. Although, looking at the escape pot, which is actually quite spacious inside, I can't see why they didn't just all go into the escape pod, and blown the ship up. So OK, there were only sleeping quarters for 3, I believe, but at least they could have all been able to get out of that ship, sat around on the floor and take turns when it comes to the sleeping capsule. Or maybe that isn't such a good idea either. Anyway, I would have taken my chances with the escape pod and rather starve to death than being killed by that alien. *shudders*

Then maybe it seems like they all did do the most logical of things given their situation. I know I wouldn't have done too much differently. Maybe that's why Alien is such a truly scary movie. ;D
