I wonder what JRRT would think to the people being named Hobbits. Would he think that it was a huge honour to have a species with a name that you have created or would he think that it was proposterous that they have tried to bring Hobbits into the human world instead of leaving them in Middle Earth?
I do think that it is really good though I would love a species to share it's name with something I had created.

That's a great site, but where do I click for the Hobbit section? We once discussed the Hobbit on Wolf's old board, among others. And I remember thinking that they could have chosen a different name for those people. Just because they were small doesn't mean they can't find another name for them. The Pygmy are on average below 4.5 feet. Does that mean they are now renamed and called Hobbits? No. Anyway, here is a good link to some 'Hobbit' info: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3948165.stm
