I didn't quite understand the end of the movie why did Frodo go away with gandalf and the elves? why didn't he stay in the shire? and where did they go?

I would suggest you read the book. There is so much more to it, and everything is explained beautifully. When the elves are tired of living in Middle Earth, they go into the West, where they reside. Because the wound Frodo received from the black knife never quite healed and made him feel depressed most of the time, he decided to go join the elves. And because he was a ringbearer he was allowed to join them. So he went to the Havens, where a ship took him into the West. I think that Frodo will feel better once he is there. Also, Bilbo is there, so he will have him to talk about the old days.

If no one minds, may I ask, When they get there, what do they do there? The curiosity is killing me.

My sister used to be a LOTR fan and she knows practically everything there is to know about the elves and any other species. She told me that the elves after the battle for middle earth go to the undying lands where all of the elves originated. She also said that Gimli becomes such a good friend of Legolas that he becomes the fist dwarf to be in the undying lands otherwise known as "Valinor". My sister also said that anly ships from the gray havens and elven ships can navigate to the land the elves came from.

If no one minds, may I ask, When they get there, what do they do there? The curiosity is killing me. Play croquet and eat chocolate truffles, I would imagine. But seriously, what happens in that land has remained a mystery to many. If you want a great deal more information about it, read The Silmarillion. There's some freaky stuff there. What I know for sure is that the elders in that land are almost all powerful. They're the ones that rose Gandalf from the dead. They do a lot more stuff like that in the Silmarillion as well.

That book is like a mini-encyclopaedia, it's not recommended that you read it all at once but a section at a time.
