The long-speculated title to the seventh and final book of the Harry Potter series is... ...wait for it... ...wait for it... ...alright here it is: Naw, I'm just kidding, but seriously, the next one is legit: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Oh wait, wrong book. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; yup. that's right SOURCE

isn't the seventh book the one about which it is said that J.K. Rowling said that she would kill hp in the final chapter? The title surely could suggest something of the kind

No, she didn't say anything. It's all just speculation.

No, she didn't say anything. It's all just speculation. And you know this because...? Rowling gave an interview in June of this year on the British Richard & Judy Show, which everyone who lives in England knows, and made comments about killing off 2 people in the last book.

But she never said that one of those people will be Harry. She's leaving the door open to all possibilities. I was replying to the comment that J.K. said that she will kill HP in the final chapter.

Eh, this was in the fifth book, so no spoiler tags.
The prophecy did not say that Harry must die in order to kill Voldie. It says that neither can live while the other is alive. In other words, one of the must kill the other. Now, is it possible that Harry will die killing Voldie? Of course. But he doesn't have to.

I have always believed that Harry Potter at least will be killed off. It would make sense, he comes full circle, dies, and is reunited with his parents in the Hereafter. I read another article today in the newspaper, saying the following (among others): Ms Rowling has already hinted that two characters are expected to die in the finale - and Harry himself might not survive.
'We are dealing with pure evil here', she said. 'They don't target extras, do they? They go for the main characters - well, I do.'

Key word being "might" of course. It's been debated to death in the HP fandom, and I'm still not quite sure.

No...it doesn't. It leaves the door open. There's no confirmation of anything outside of a lot of characters dying. The only thing that can be assumed is that Voldemort will die.

But lets wait and see... I agree. It's pretty much like in the Matrix. No one expected Neo to die, but he did. And it would make a nice ending, knowing that HP was re-united with his parents. But we shall see when the book is out

i believe that harry will be killed just based on common sense. i mean in the quote above, it practically says that harry's dead but it also just makes sense. i mean consider, in every other book you've read, the main antagonist went after the main protagonist.
