Trinity dies in the movie allowing Neo to be free from her and strengthen his love for humanity thus allowing him to sacrifice his own life for the Oracle. The main story , centering on Neo was never really about him , but about one of the 'smaller' players in The Oracle. It was her vision that pushes the characters in all the movies , and as the Architect says in the last scene from Revolutions , a dangerous game she played in bringing peace to both the machines and the humans. Remember several 'ones' have come before , but it was Neo after he dies in the original Matrix the has the faith of the Oracle to thrust her plan into action. The Brothers , while intending three movies never really anticipated anything other than one , making the original a movie in it's own right , this is why the sequence feels a little disjointed. Perfectly said. Like I said, the original is perfect, and it's next to impossable to make sequels as well recieved as the original, perfect movie. Welcome to Temporal Reality <Bad Ash>

I agree with the above, the 1st movie was pure class, there was no way the 2nd and 3rd could compete, but they were good movies in there own right

wow, I can't beleive what controversy Revolutions has caused!
I am one of those who thinks Revolutions was good. It's a perfect ending for the trilogy. Sure, it's not what everyone would expect, like Neo winning and living happily ever after and so on...
I knew Trinity would die in the movie from the first movie I heard it being reffered to as the most dramatic movie of the trilogy. She had to die, she was meant to die. She had to die in order to let Neo remember what his destiny was. Her death brings him the strenght to sacrifice himself for mankind. Her death brings Neo the experience of love and sacrifice, which would make the Matrix a better reality after his death (just compare the perfect sunset and the lively colours in the end with the greenish colours of the Matrix throughout the first movies).
The battle scenes between men and machines are really well done. Of course, they are a bit long and tens to get boring, but they give you an overwhelming feeling, by emphasizing the contrast between the power of the machines and the determination and courage of the humans.
The last fighting scene is perfect. It sums up the esential moments of the trilogy. It has a dojo fight (like te first movie), and when Smith smashes Neo to the ground, you can notice the phone booth from where Neo made that call at the end of the first movie. And it's interesting to see how the whole ballance of the fight changes, Inthe beginning they are both equal, none of them seems stronger than the other. In the dojo, Neo seems to be getting a slight advantage over Smith. Then Smith clearly out-powers him. We get to see an exhausted Neo, struggling hard to get up from the ground, barely standing, yet trying to fight. I find it very emotional. No knows he can't defeat Smith without dying himself.
I find this movie very deep in meanings. It's not my favourite of the trilogy, but it comes to the second place.

That part was pretty sick! I loved the action in that scene. Very well made. It was kind of nasty when the leader gets major cuts when he is attacked by a robot. I thought that the special effects were very good quality.

As I pointed out in the Sati thread, I watched the second half of Revolutions tonight for the first time in years. The battle for Zion was extremely well done, I remembered how well the emotional despair came out from it's inhabitants. I also remembered how sad the scene was with Trinity and Neo just before Neo steps off the ship into the Machine city.
Very well done!

I was uncertain that I posted in this thread so I read everything all over just to realize I did post... xkamelx, I'm jealous. It's been more than a year since I watched Revolutions so I'd really like seeing it again from beginning to end. You mentioned the scene when Neo leaves the ship to go into Machine City, which reminded me of a part of the movie which I consider to be very moving. I'll use spoilers to be sure: I am really impressed by the scenes that follow Neo and Trinity's departure for Machine City. I was really shocked to see the outcome of a fight between Neo and Smith/Bane in the real world. That scene was so contrasting comparing it to their spectacular fights in the Matrix. And when Neo went blind I think it hurt me more than it hurt him. I think the idea of a blind helpless Neo, with Trinity being his guide, means a lot to the movie. Trinity's death was anmother impressive scene, mostly Neo's reaction, who has to accept her death and go do his job. The whole scene when Neo reaches Machine City and talks to Deus Ex Machina are pretty overwhelming, I mean while an entire city is struggling to survive the attack of the sentinels, one helpless man is standing right in the middle of 01, talking to a machine whose sight alone is enough to make you freeze. I also love the contrast created between the gloomy look of 01 and the way Neo sees it, in those golden colors, they make the athmosphere look somehow fantastic.
