"Its an Agent!"
How many of them are there?
I think there's only 3. But after part 1's event there's only 2 left in part 2, but later there's none in part 3.
Part 1 - Smith & the other 2 Part 2 - the upgraded version of the 2 Part 3 - no more agents, they have been taken control by Smith

3 Agents guarding the entire Matrix world. Is the Matrix only based on America? It would be easier to police this way, & imagine people book a flight to another country & poof that guy dissapears after passing the border & end up back at America again,

I guess before 'The One' appeared, 3 agents were all they needed to police the world. I assume thier thinking and observing skills far surpasses ours as regular humans. I also believe the Matrix simulation exists world wide, as on the DVD 'The Animatrix' one of the short stories takes place in Japan I think. It's a story of a flaw in The Matrix, where a girl and two children find anomalies in the programs, and are able to jump higher then physics should permit, float, fall from extreme hights and slow down before hitting the ground, ect. Eventually agents and some trype of Matrix construction crew comes in, seals the place off, and fixes it. The next day the girl and the two kids return to find things back to normal. A pretty cool little story ~Myke

Thanks to the Oracle "Mother of the Matrix" The Architech is well aware of the One's arrival, because he had already experianced 5 Ones before this 6th One. lol hmm. i think he's trying to handle the One without over stressing the matter, to see if they can handle him in alimited number.

Actually, in my opinion, I am not so sure that agents would know about The One, or the inner workings of the Matrix code. Afterall, agents are just law enforcment, almost like a regular city cop, I doubt he would know about the highest intelligence in thier governent.
In the original, they battled Neo. If they had known all there is to know, they wouldve known that The One was not meant to die, but reach the source, and to fight him could mean certain death.
In Reloaded when the upgrades first confronted Neo, one stated he was the anomaly and asked if he should proceed, which leads me to believe that agents think on thier own, apart from the architiect.

That's because Neo is still only human, he is able to be defeated, the matter is how to defeat him.
& haven't u heard what those agents said after fighting Neo at the beginning?
Agent a: "Everything is proceeding as it should be." Agent b: "Well not exactly."
They we're refering to past events, the past Matrixes & Neos.

True, but I still don't beleive that the original agents had all of the knowledge that the Architiect had. Perhaps with thier upgrade they learned exactly why Neo was able to kill Agent Smith, when all other humans were unable to touch them. They both ran away like they were deathly scared, so I doubt they had prior knowledge to the anamoly.

I think they do know about Neo, its just that they weren't ready yet, after they have full proof that's the anomoly, then they ran away to get their upgrades. ;D

This has got me thinking, if they knew, is that why they took Neo in to custody from his work place in the original, or did they do that because they thought he was just another human that morphous and crew were trying to awake?

They know why Morpheos's team wanted him, as they said somewhere. "We got his name" something like that & they start to go after Mr. Anderson Its better to say like the Oracle would. "We all do what we have to do." that includes those agents.

It's been a while since I saw the original, but I do not remember them saying his name then going after him, I simply remember them showing up at the software company where Neo worked.
I also remember the lady with the white rabbit showing up, and Trinity in that club, with no real explination on how they though Mr Anderson was 'The One'

At the very beginning, they showed Trinity talking to someone on the line. The agents were tracing that call. & found out enough to find Mr. Anderson "the next possible One". Which so happens to look the same as the rest, lol.

I haven't seen Revoloutions yet but if you ask me there is no point having agents anymore. In The Matrix they were bad, could throw you through walls etc. you were actually scared of them! In Reloaded they would be luck if they even hit anyone! Bad move. The fiml don't have any real bad guys now Should of kept them POWERFUL!

1. I found out from somewhere that in part 1 & 2 have 3 different agents. Part 2's 3 new agents replaced the 2 old remaining one in part 1. 2. The agents are dangerous & powerful in part 2, but the fact that they are facing off Neo, their innevitable defeat is there. But when they faced normals like Morpheus, if they had no help from Neo, he'd die along with the Key maker. Another fact that has to be taken is that fear is 1/2 gone from Morpheus & the others when facing agents. Thanks to Neo they have more confidence but that alone won't let them win. For you see when Neo is not around to help, Morpheus could have died in the truck incident & Trinity would die after falling out that building. So in other words, the agents are still powerful & fearful to the normal people.
