Did you know that the fixed background thing doesn't work in Firefox? And neither does that cool roll-over link effect thing. I realize that TR is optimized for IE, and most use it but fortunately there's a growing number that aren't. Making sites cross-browser compatible is a pain in the ass, I know but... I thought you used Opera though..

It simply comes down to I don't know how to make the bg fixed in Mozilla Firefox , nor do I know how to make the roll over effect work. I do use Opera, but not on TR. The 3D effect that we have looks terrible in Opera, give the forum a purpulish tint as opposed to blue. So I used Internet Explorer when visiting Temporal Reality. The moderator column doesent work in Opera either. But like I said, I do not know how to make it look the exact same in all browsers, or I'd do it. If you have any ideas, I'd be more then happy to take them!

Hey Kamel this one is said to work on multiple browsers, more than IE.
<STYLE TYPE="text/css"> <!-- BODY {background-image: URL(http://Enter URL to Pick Here); background-position: center; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: fixed} --> </STYLE>

Alrite then... as a forum owner myself I'm trying to make my stuff look and function the same for all... the MAIN problem I see is these half-assed script writers who are under the illusion that they're all clever in providing free code for us to use. And when you even so much as hint at questioning whether or not the code is perfect you get chewed up and spit out whole. They need a wake up call. Free does not excuse low quality. Even a BASIC proboard doesn't work the same in different browsers. But all this you knew...

The bg on TR is currently 1024 x 768. The reason it's no larger is one cant format a site to look great in every possible resolution, but I'll give it a try FantasyLover! See that's the thing though, it is commen knowledge that Internet Explorer is the most widley used broswer on the Internet. I personally feel the the programmers of the browsers should update thier programs to read IE based codes, ecspecially since they are trying to compete with Microsoft. A code is a code, it's up to the browser on how to read it. No matter what browser you use, even Web TV (Which dosent display gradients ect) will alow one to post, so they are all reading a code the same way. I think they all should read a code the same way, so each code is a 'universal' code.

Yes, they should all read a code the same way but there's a better chance of making codes cross browser compatible than the browser makers themselves programming their product to read each one universally.

unfortunately a lot of these codes dont use the same language....so the only way to make them 100% cross compatible would be to take the scripts totally out and then you would have a boring board...lol

Uggh, I just downloaded Firefox and viewed Temporal Reality. It has the same problems Opera does. One day when you're bored, view TR in Internet Explorer, and you'll see a world of difference.

Nice try, but it just don't swing it. About the only way to get completely cross-compatible would be to code a forum for it from scratch. Those people who could do it have better things to do, and then people like me who wouldn't mind doing it don't have the skills.
