A teacher opens a time capsule that has been dug up at his son's elementary school; in it is a sheet of paper with a collection of random numbers all over it, which lead to some chilling predictions -- some that have already occurred and others that are about to -- that lead him to believe his family plays a role in the events that are about to unfold.
Personally, i loved it. While I admit the ending was a little bit "meh" at first, and that there could have been more disasters (because the special effects for the main two you saw were awesome). The stroyline was awesome, and there were quite a few scary moments -
SPOILERS BELOW - spoiler button not working?
When Will Dawes chases the Whisperer into the woods, and the Whisperer turns around and opens his mouth... scared the (&!#!# out of me. And just after Diana was killed in the car crash, when Dawes comes over and you can see the sun flare in the background- that had me a little spooked.
I also thought it was well written how they tied in Diana dying on the date her mother said she would.
The only thing I thought was a bit of a "meh" (other than the ending) was that Dawes worked out that the numbers were for 9/11. I mean, he just looked at the numbers that had the coffee ring around them, and immediatly jumped on his computer and worked it out. I guess that would happen in real life, but for me it just seemed a bit too quick. Whatever
For sci fi buffs, I highly recommend this movie. Don't listen to the critical reviews, they're all a croc. Go see this movie. It is awesome.
