I enjoyed it! I do agree with the reviewers that the film lost it's way haflway through (In which I'll get too later) and took a very long time to get back on track.
The Good:
Megatron - has to be said. All those rumours about him being in it/not being in it/only being in flash backs.. I was very glad to see him back and I have to say even better than the last film! None of the "Priiiiime" like king king, much more bad ass, LOVE the tank.
Starscream & Soundwave. - Soundwave was f***ing awesome! It's just a shame we never got to see him come to Earth and transform.fight in robot mode. But as soon as I heard the voice for the first time I went giddy!
I'm glad Starscream had alot more to say for himself this time! Especially when him and Megatron were on Cybertron together, that scene was complete gold! Most of the time when Starscream was talking I found it hard to hide the fact I was grinning from ear to ear! All those going "WAH IT ISN'T LIKE 1984!!!111" THIS is the Starscream we've always loved!
I loved the twins (Although the scrap between them in Egypt was a little meh), and I have to say - I actually loved Wheelie! The way he talked and acted, cursing Michaela for blow-torching his eye! I actually liked Arcee as well, I've never been a fan of female Transformers either, but I think she was spunky. Shame she only got one lined and killed so easily.
I was also disappointed how easily Ravage was offed. Loved the guns on his hind quarters
Sideswipe was very cool and I liked the constructicons/Devastator although it was unclear who actually was Devastator at that point, as has been mentioned, you lose count.
The loved the forest scene, and that Prime's death did have a real actual impact on young Sam. Cinematically that was a real strong moment the way Prime got his ass kicked then tried to take them all on (Why did the Autobots take so long to get there though?) Affecting Sam so much so, that before becoming determined to get the matrix after learning about it and restoring Prime, Sam became solemn and moody for a while casting a huge black show over Sam's outlook.
So much so again - another very strong scene was when the Matrix was snatched from him as it disintegrated into dust after all those thousands of years. Having his dream and everything he wanted to do snatched away in seconds frantically gathered the dust in desperation - very strong scene. As was when Sam got nuked and the reaction from his parents Ron & Judy I thought. (Love them.)
The Bad:
I think there is alot that could've been cut - Sam's room-mates and their kitty-kat calenders went on a bit too long and before Jetfire visualize the best he seemed to be talking and talking and talking to get alot of plot out or just ramble.
People moan about the swearing, dog humping and apparrant racial stereotypes (Please!) and yet nothing was said about the colse up crotch shot of Simmons? Sorry, not needed. At least he wore S7 boxers in the first one. We don't need to see that close up on a huge cimema screen and it was utterly pointless.
Speaking of which the femme-bot in college was pointless too. It's could point was just to chase same through college?! Did it have any other point? It could had something disguised as every day to chase him/infiltrate him Like the way Frenzy did on the air force 1 plane in the first film! Anything could've done that - not a pointless femmebot.
Small niggles "Is the breath from the Transformers, it bothered me. Unless it's very cold on Cybertron and Earth but even then Transformers don't have lungs and air in them. Small niggle but it bugged me.
I think it is a shame bumble bee didn't talk. If he had been a mix of the two it would've been fine but there was no reason for him to be mute again. Particularity after the only explanation was Sam saying "he's playing on it. Also shame Ratchet was reduced to a very minor role.
Overall I did enjoy the film, but there was a good few things that should've been left on the cutting room floor, stuff that was unnecessary. There were some niggles and it did lose it's way, but I enjoyed it overall. I don't think it's as bad as people are making out. Bat as ever it was flawed but fun.
