I've spoke to Myke about this before Christmas via e-mail and I was in two minds about this. I really didn't want to be the one to put the final nail in the coffin.
Unfortunately I just don't have the time I used to. I've gotten involved with other things and have took on extra hours for work. I took over because of the genuine love for this place and didn't want to see it close. Things have been pretty dead here for a long time and for that I take complete responsibility.
I'd just like to apologise to the members, old ones and new who I've let down, I'm sorry I can't serve as your admin any more and feel it only right I step down. If Myke does come on, I ask he make me a regular member as soon as possible.
Unless an established, long-term member wishes to take over Temporal Reality will close. I'm not sure if Myke would accept another admin but you'd best ask/PM/e-mail him personally..
My sincerest apologies for not being able to commit the time I would like. I hope you all had a good Christmas and new year and best wishes for 2010.
Peter.

It would be sad to see it go, but I completely understand with not wanting/having time to run a dead forum.

It's more about the time than whether it's dead or not. It deserves more and I can't give it what it needs.

I would hate to see this place close down as well. However, I am well aware of the trials of keeping a board open when the Admin(s) from the glory days are no longer there, especially when time is an issue. My suggestion is to find someone to keep an eye on things and take break for a month or two. If you still don't have time and are not satisfied with the place, then consider actually closing it down.

Yes, it can be tough to keep a forum going when the original admin/creator is gone. I know that from current experience, as well.
I agree with BFD. Don't permanently close it. Perhaps just leave it alone for a while, then come back again and think about it. Maybe find a second admin/mod to help you with it. Or something.

Hi guys,
I'm sorry I'm so late into replying to this, but it just serves as another example as to why it was near impossible for me to be an active admin here.
In all fairness, I think you have done a lot of good for Temporal Reality, Peter, all the way back from when I first met you in 2003 shortly after opening the forum, to all of the help and advice you have given me from back then and all through out the years. You taught me a lot about forums, and have been a good friend. When I asked if you would take over administrating the forum, I never imagined you would put as much work into the forum as you have, with new banners, a new skin, dozens of fresh topics. Temporal Reality would have closed a lot sooner had you not stepped up. I do believe you went above and beyond the call of duty.
It's like the title of the Star Trek The Next Generation finale; "All Good Thing". Nothing lasts forever, even in a temporal reality. During the last 7 years, this forum has reached heights I never imagined, and has introduced me to some great people, many of whom I consider friends, even if they are friends I have lost contact with.
In addition to thanking Peter, I also want to think all of the regulars, the regulars of the past, and the regulars who still visit from time to time. You guys were the true life of this place. Admins and mods can create a thousand new topics, but it matters little without great, intelligent posters who can read an opening post and turn that into a great discussion that not only kept people interested, but encourged new members to join. This is why I never hide this place from guests, because allowing them to read our great discussions enticed them join, probably much more than any of our elaborate skins ever did.
Just as Peter, I too have just do not have the time to run this place. Moderating it isn't much of an issue, it never was. Running this place means advertising it, and supplying it with fresh topics. Advertising wasn't much of a problem when I was a moderator on ProBoards Support, but creating fresh topics has always been time consuming. With my life's schedule now, it's just not realistic to believe I can run this place again; creating a substantial amount of topics and advertising it.
The reason why Peter and I were talking together about closing TR, is the fact that it is way beyond it's prime of 2004 - 2006/7. Those were some great years to be here, but they are gone. While it's sad to see a place with so many great memories close, I feel it is not as sad as to come here and find only a ghost town; a poor shadow of it's former self. I feel it is best to remember TR as what it once was, to remember all of the good times, as opposed to eventually remember this place as "that dead forum we all used to have so much fun on years ago".
I'm not against waiting a few months, but don't really see the point. However, in the past I have often granted members' wishes when I didn't see the point, and never regretted it. I never planned on deleting this place, but simply closing it.
So, I will leave it open for a while longer. This will give every one a fair chance to say their good-bye's, exchange contact info, or even have a few last conversations.
It has been a pleasure being a part of something so special with you guys, being part of Temporal Reality.
Myke
