This was my thoughts when i posted it at The Last Outpost (a good 3-4 months ago):
The special effects are stunning like the future scapes and the technology but the clever use of real locations mixed with cgi makes for a stunning futuristic lifestyle. And scenes like when he first goes on the run an is jumping from on top of one moving car to another whilst in motion is breath-taking not to mantion the following chase scene with his agents.
I love the technology in this film, how cool are the cars! And i also love those guns they use when chasing John they look like they almost shoot a high velocity blast of air. Then we have the sick sticks which are kind of gross! The "spiders" are very cool also very clever too, you can use them to scout a whole building and they get into eveey nook and cranny to fing you and ascan your retinals!
The 1st time i watched it i thought it was going to lack depth but the set-up storyline of course changed that. Even at the time you wonder if John will commit his crime and fufill the destiny but then it twists again from not having a parallel reality to make his own one by not doing it. And just when you predict something it twist again with the Head of the agents being corrupt, very very clever.
I think the ending was a bit too simplistic and the ending felt a bit "rushed" but it was a very enjoyable movie that i might get on DVD eventually (finalcial situation dependant).

I found the movie interesting, and like you said, it kept me guessing throughout the entire movie, which is a rarity in films these days.
The DVD is one that I will eventually get(I know its already out), but it isn't at the top of my DVD list(its about #10)
BTW nice site you have Bones.

I own the DVD as I bought it when it first came out. I too enjoyed it, and yes I spent the whole time wondering if, in fact, he was going to commit the crime. It was quite interesting to see how and why he actually did it. The was he was set up was a good plotline, to so he wouldnt unvover the true murder.
I also enjoyed the buidling then they flew in to stop that man from killing his cheating wife, the house seemed like a house you'd find in the 1990's but with a futurstic hoverjet over it, which is the way it should be. I remember when I was young, everyone talked about how diferent things would be in the year 2000, houses that are computers and such, but 2000 has come and gone and my house is the same wood and paint that it's always been.
Yes, Minority Report was an excellent movie.

When I first saw the movie, in theaters, I liked it but wasn't blown away...Since then I've seen it about a dozen times (on TV and I bought the DVD) and I've gotten to the point where I love this movie...It took a few viewings, but it really is an excellent film...
Not just the special effects, which as Bones said are set in a recent future that makes them seem even more amazing because they're interacting with a world we already know...My screenwriting professor, last semester, pointed out how this is a great way to avoid having to "set up" a whole new world in a movie, as the world is pretty much similiar to the one we're already used to (just with a few tweaks)...Anyway, while the effects were awesome, it's the story that through and through wins me over...Watching Tom Cruise trying to prove himself innocent, with all of the twists and turns, and one of the best red herrings I've ever seen with Colin Farrel's character...
What bothered me most the first time I saw it, but I'm really not annoyed by anymore, was the third act that comes out of seemingly nowhere and extends the movie about thirty minutes longer then (I originally thought) it needed to be...But I've realized that third act is actually a perfect fit to the film, and overall it would be incomplete without it...

BTW nice site you have Bones. Thanx. Yeah, Tom' Cruises character was so certain that he absolutely would not do it right up to the last minute desoite the circumstances but... well we all know what happened ;D

That was compelling to me as well Bones. We knew his character was not a murderer, but also knew that thier system was almost flawless. I was trying to figure out what went wrong the whole time, untill it was revealed I think the plot played out perfect. ~Myke

I reckon it's a fantastic movie to watch, but it's really difficult to understand what's happening if you don't watch it from the start.

Agreed, but that's why you should always watch from the start The story is complex, but is is brilliant story telling, and facinating to watch unfold before your eyes. I liked everything about the movie, in in which the way it was fimled. I don't know much about filming preocess' but I could tell it was fiomed in a different way then other movies, just because of the way the tine of the world looked. Minority Report is probably one ofthe best Sci-Fi films in recent history.

Long before I actually saw the movie (I waited for the DVD to come out), I thought the graphics and story line were great and couldn´t wait to see the movie. When at long last I did see it, I was a little disappointed. Although it was still a good film, I found it slightly flat somehow. I don´t know why but from the clips I had seen, I expected more from the film. Also, what I find rather annoying is those clips that give away vital parts of the film and therefore when you see the film, the surprise element is often gone. Like when we already find out in the previews that they are going to find Tom Cruise guilty of "will commit a crime". To already know those important elements when I watch a film and we haven´t actually yet come to that part, spoil it for me. Know what I mean?

I do, and surprisngly most all movie trailor kind of do that, they are like mini movies that gives the plot away.
As for the flatness of the film, I disagree, but we are seeing it with two different pairs of eyes (no pun intensed - the eye switching). Remember, I thought Vanilla Sky was an EXCELLENT film, and you wasnt to fond of it. I think people see movies different ways, and little things is dofferent parts of the movie mean different things to different people.
I will admit though, I liked the movie more the second time around then I did the first, and I do know what you mean by it being 'flat' I kind of got that feeling the first time around, and too expected more, but like I said, it grew on my over time.

Yeah... I might find it actually more interesting the second time round too. Remember when I once said that when I expect too much of a film (and boy, are we spoilt these days and ask for the impossible) LOL. Anyway, when I expect a lot, I usually get a little disappointed because, as I said, I expected way too much. And then, when I watch it again the second time round, I often find myself enjoying it much more simply because I don´t expect anything at all. ;D
