This is a real great mystery/sci-fi/thriller, made in 1999. This is the plot: Computer scientist Hannon Fuller has discovered something extremely important. He's about to tell the discovery to his colleague. He's about to tell the discovery to his colleague, Douglas Hall, but knowing someone is after him, the old man leaves a letter in his computer generated parallel world that's just like the 30's with seemingly real people with real emotions. Fuller is murdered in our "real" world the same night, and his colleague is suspected. Douglas discovers a bloody shirt in his bathroom and he cannot recall what he was doing the night Fuller was murdered. He logs into the system in order to find the letter, but has to confront the unexpected. The truth is harsher than he could ever imagine... This is a real "whats going on here" film. Has anyone seen it? It´s about these people who have invented a machine that allows them to live in a computer generated world - for a short time only. One man in this computer generated world reads the letter that the main man leaves behind before he gets killed and realises that he is not really a person but just a mass of pixels.... It gets better folks but don´t want to say any more just yet. ;D

Yes I have seen it, and it is a great movie. The story is like The Matrix in a way, but the thing is, this came out before the Matrix I believe I thought the whole thing was terrific, from beginning to end. .. .ecspecially the end, but like you Val, I can't say too much more without ruining the film for those who havent seen it!!

Yes, I know. It would spoil it. And like you said, you kept being in the dark until a layer and then another layer was taken away. Great movie. ;D

It would be terrible to be that guy from the 30's simulation, to realize that you were notic but an electron in a computer data base somewhere. That's why I thought it was so good, most AI movies have beings as large as humans, but these AIs were tiny electrons flowing around a computer database.

And, of course, the question remains: How sure can the girl and her father be that THEY were the real thing.

Went to the movies for this one. Great flick! It kind of got overlooked and lost in the sway of blockbusters but it was an awesome film!

It's a shame it didnt do better, it really was a good movie that relied on a great plot rather then special effects and action. I poped the tape in a few days after Christmas, and was amazed, I had to wake my wife up (As back then I enjoyed peace and quiet and would often get up before her and hang out) and rewind it to have her watch it with me. She never was a science fiction fan like I am, but even she liked it.

We do both love Planet of the Apes though lol. She did actually like the movie as well. Its very thought provoking and a good twist on the whole "matrix" idea.

The ending of the movie was very confusing, was a computer generated individual turned into a human being?

Bumping this one up for Kmylove. I've edited everyone's posts to hide spoilers, but am wondering if you (or any one else for that matter) has seen this? I'm guesing if you love the Matrix, then you'd love this movie as well.
