It's true, unfortunately. SourceI'm not surprised. When Richard Dean Anderson left the show I kinda knew a cancellation was right around the corner. I've really enjoyed Ben Browder on the show, and think he was a great addition, but Richard Dean Anderson has some big shoes to fill.

I learned of this yesterday on Gateworld. A dull day indeed.
Too late did the rumours of RDA's return arrive.
Their is still hope. If another Network picks up Stargate, it can live on.

Sounds good and all, but I'm not part of the Nielsen family so even though I'll continue to watch, my viewership will not count toward the ratings.

Goodness... I had no idea they were still at it. I really couldn't care less about SG-1 after Richard Dean Anderson left. And what I disliked the most was the fact that they tried to make this new guy (Ben Browder) sound as witty and funny as RDA was in his role. Didn't work for me and I just hated it. Sure, there were some good episodes among them after RDA left, but lets face it - it's all been said and done before. And for starters, I didn't like the fact that General Hammond left and RDA took over, just sitting there in the office. That was a BIG mistake. And then, after RDA left, they had Beau Bridges take over as the General. He is all right though. Looks more at home at a desk. And I am still really peed off about the fact that Michael Shanks' Daniel Jackson came back, and Jonas Quinn had to leave the show again. I absolutely hated that as well. Never was the same after that. Completely dispised Michael Shanks. Stay or leave, I say, but don't hop forth and back. Idiot... In fact, I would go as far as say that I preferred Jonas Quinn to Daniel Jackson. Jonas was a much better character, IMO.

This is sad, but not surprising. I only watched a handfull of episodes from season 9 (still waiting for it on DVD ), but they weren't impressive. I didn't have a problem with Hammond moving on and O'neill taking over command, but the way they filled out the team was terrible. No offense, but all I saw of Ben Browder's character was a dumbed down version of RDA's...definitely not the way to replace a main character (promote Carter, destroy Jonas Quinn's homeworld and bring him back angry and seeking revenge would have been my idea...but what do I know? I write software, not fiction for a living. ) About the only good I see of this is that I will no longer have a moving target in my quest to get all the seasons on DVD! ;D

I didn't mind Ben Browder's character because it reminded me of his John Crichton character from Farscape.

I wasn't much of a Farscape fan...in fact, I watched maybe two episodes all the way through, and parts of a dozen more. It just wasn't my style of Sci-Fi. I still say they should have gone for someone completely different...heck, I would have preferred Felger being assigned to the team.

Really? I found Farscape to be a fresh new side of science fiction, but can see why some would not like it.

I have to admit my mind was a little poisoned against it...many Babylon 5 fans blame Farscape (and Lexx) for the cancelling of Crusades. When I watched those first few episodes, all I could do was compare it to B5. I was only a mild fan of B5 back then (I'm a devoted fan now), but I had seen enough to dislike anything that interferred with it coming back.

I thought Ben Browber was a good addition. His character and Daniel interacted in a very different way than RDA and Shanks.
Despite what people think, he wasn't (or even trying to be) the same as RDA. He wanted to bring a new character to the show, and the crew wanted to have 4 members of sg1 again.
Certain viewers just couldnt accept that.

Well, I only watched a handful of episodes so I will hold my full judgement until I can watch the whole season on DVD (gotta wait over a month for that...October 2 is the release date in the US for season 9) But what little I saw looked like a stripped down version of O'Neill...in fact, the eps I saw reminded me of the Kurt Russel version of the character. Maybe when seen in the context of the whole season, they won't be that bad.

It doesn't come as a suprise, since alot of people have been expecting SG-1 to come to a recent end.

Ben Browders' character was very similar to his fasrcape one now that i think about it. Making pop-cultur references to aliens that wont understand them (I guess bothy characters watched a lot of TV)

I am going to miss SG1! This is the ONLY show on TV that I've ever followed from start to finish.
