As 1 who considers himself a Daggit, besides being a Jedi and a Trekkie and a Ranger, and Oh Yeah a ShadowRunner. Well the Daggit in me cant pass this 1 by. Valderra - In answer to your question about the episode. it was the 1st episode, a 3 parter titled "Saga Of A Star World" and the gambling took place in the end of part 2 & part 3. As a Daggit I am not happy with the way Ron Moore Hamstrung Richard Hatch and stole BSG from him. Hatch has been trying to get a new series or movie started and was on his way. Just like what the fans of Farscape did. There is talk of a Full Feature Film possibly of the original theme. The only thing I like about the new BSG is the scenes in space. since they revamped it to make it comparable to earth with respect to tech level. It is a more realistic viewpoint of battle in space with the dimensional physics as we understand them. If only the Original theme and the new special effects were joined then it would truly be a piece of art and something to behold. Now as for Galactica 80'. In the words of Glen Larson - It was a BAD DREAM. It Nevered Happened. Nuff Said. Now so you know, in the new series the cyclons are the Terminators/Matrix. They were created by man to serve and they rebeled. In the 1st series they were created by a reptilian race called cylons and killed their masters and have been fighting the humans for over 1000 yahren. The Galactica is over 500 yahren. In the new its only 50 yrs. I also like that E.J.Olmos is in it as Adama. Not the same father figure as Lorne Greene, But a Very Good choice to fill his shoes. I can go into it alot more but wanna see where it goes from here. Add this to the mix - Who else see's a relationship between Adama and the Fleet & Noah and the Ark???

I also love the original series Sunray....I too think they should have kept the original theme for the show...it would still fit today very nicely....very military sounding ...they shouldnt have done away with it. I also would kind of hope since they show the old cylon soldiers and stuff in brief glimpses on the show...that we could actually see them in use in a few episodes just to take us back to the old days. I don;t like how they have changed the cylon raiders though....I think the old cylon raiders looked better and I liked the fact they had cockpits and crews....

OK Friday Nights Episode on Sci-Fi chan BSG 2.0. "Act of Contrition"
I'll give Ron Moore credit because I know he can weave a tale. He can develop characters and give them life. I am slightly biased cause of DS9 being my Fav TV show all of time. and maybe I am jaded about life and would prefer the original theme. But tonights episode has me wondering how emotionally dark does he plan on going with this show.
I dont wanna go off on a rant here tearing it apart.Wanna wait till a few have chimed in. Im not a spoiler. But I do have a bone to pick.
I said E.J. Almos is a good actor to take the shoes of Adama. In all that I have seen with Almos playing the father, he has always displayed an ideal fatherly image. Showing qualities i hope I have when that time arrives. But he showed tonight that he is no Lorne Greene. Tonights episode showed me that he has taken those shoes and made them his.
But the DAGGIT in me is screaming................FELDERGARB

So is that a good review or a bad one..lol I liked the episode....if you are talking about the way Adama got mad at Starbuck after finding out she was responsible for passing his son and getting him killed I thought that was awesome. Such passion and anger..."Walk out of here while you are still able"
they are definitely focusing on the dark and human aspect of this....and I like it...

It's been a bit slow so far, but that's to be expected when a show is just starting out, even if it is the second incarnation of it... And it's about time they started training more pilots! So they've put out less then a dozen eps so far, but considering their situation, they should have been at least looking for "nuggets". I apologize for the rant; I haven't been sleeping well lately, and today sucks...real bad. The new BSG is one of the few shows I'm actually sitting down to watch now and again. Lately, it's one of the few shows I watch period. Back to subject though. From the rundown sometime ago, I was wondering how they got a Cylon Raider. Me thinks Boomer will be getting an upgrade in flight status real soon... Just my op though.

I find it interesting they only have about 40 total vipers....that is not a large number....and if people start getting killed....thats drastically going to affect the defensive capabilities of the fleet...

Probably won't be too much longer before they start looking into producing more Vipers. Might have results by the end of the first season...
As for the total of 40 Vipers, Galactia is probably meant to be a carrier right? it would probably be the same as comparing WWII aircraft carriers to modern ones; more aircraft, and better range vs. the older ones with less aircraft, and not as much range.
I like that comparison actually. As Galactia was part of a battle group, it probably had other smaller ships that had a smaller number of Vipers to them; like smaller carriers from WWII that were converted cruiser hulls.
I can see that being the case. I imagine the newer Battlestars had better defenses and more Vipers to them before they were...disabled by Baltar and the Cylons. (Disabled = destroyed; see VOY ep "Dragon's Teeth" for reference)

watched the latest eppie of BSG yet again.....it gets better the more you watch them.....I am really starting to like the character of Starbuck.....the actress is realy doing a great job of playing a hardass character.....but yet very emotional at times....as she displays when she stands in front of Adama crying.....or when she almost decked Apollo when they argued after she flunked the first group of pilots.....this show is impressing me a lot more than i ever thought it would.

The synthesiser (?) voice? Now that you mention it, it was odd. If I recall correctly though, it was three simple words that stand out, even now. "By your command."
Oy. There's some dredging...

As a SciFi junkie I'm watching, but has anyone else noticed how each episode deals with the grizzliness of humanities darker side.?.?.?.
When is an episode gonna be a true victory for the human spirit.?.?.?.
Is every episode gonna show more of our ugliness.?.?.?. Or are we gonna see the triumph of the human spirit against adversity.?.?.
I wanna see the nobility of human sacrifice. Not this fleet of despair.
At least the original when dealing with the prob's of living together, It wasnt a downer when they won. Even when the chips were down, you still had hope. BSG2.0 has them still in want of stabbing each other in the back. I understand a theme for an underlying story plot. Yet with between 45-50k humans left......?.....you would think that it wouldnt be hard to accept that COOPERATION beats COMPETITION anyday. Especially when talking about SPECIES SURVIVAL.
Once again I'll say that R Moore can weave a tale. Lets hope the Hope for Humanity has a sweet taste to it.

Well....I think at least while they are still in the process of setting up the deep storylines and such that it will continue to be dark. Especially now that they all know cylons look like humans.....and I really cant wait until tonight's episode when you see the female cylon appears for real and turns in Baltar as a traitor and hits on Adama....
