I never liked Data. Star Trek is not about androids chaning themselves its about seeking out new life and new civilisations. Not a machine made by some human scientists. Star Trek for me is about adventures in space and on different planets, not adventures inside a holodeck or an android trying to beome a human. What is surprising is that Starfleet does not have robots of all shapes and sizes with multiple limbs, not needing arteficial gravity or any kind of life support, floating around doing all kinds of tasks, even outside maintenance of the ships. But that is irrelevant - the fun is discovering all kinds of worlds and encountering other sentient beings.

I'm a huge Data fan, I must admit I liked him better before he was given the emotion chip.

Data was one of my favourite character's of the TNG crew, it was very sad when he sacrifised himself. Part of the Starfleet is to discover strange new beings and Data is certainly one.

But that is irrelevant - the fun is discovering all kinds of worlds and encountering other sentient beings. Star Trek is about more then that. The original idea behind Star Trek was to show the utopia we as humans could make the future. But Trek has evolved beyond that. It is about exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no one has gone before, but there's so many grey areas within those adventures. Data quest to become more human showed the quality Data saw in humans. Despite his creator being human, Data served with Klingons, andorians (probably) Vulcans, etc. and out of all of the species which make up the UFP, he choose humans to mold himself after. But like I said, Star Trek is about a lot of things, it is about morality, exploration, theoretical physics, adventure, technology, war, emotion, etc.

I liked Data a lot and I think that he added a lot to the star trek universe but I won't miss him because he had a good run in TNG, First Contact, Insurrection, Generations, and Nemesis. Those were his parts and he did good in all of them.

This is treading on some very emotional ground for me. Let me just say I will miss him and was outraged by his untimely death. What irks me more is Spiner saying he wouldn't do Nemesis unless Data is killed off... it's one thing to listen to people rag on about their jobs but THIS IS TREK!
Rather disenhartening.

While there were certain Data-centric episodes I enjoyed, and the purpose for including him in Star Trek was to further explore the "What does it mean to be sentient/human" question... I'm glad Data is gone. He was getting way too many special abilities, and it was getting harder to put him in believable peril or even challenge him.
I hated the last Next Generation movie, and would be just as happy if they never made another. It's a crying shame that they never took the opportunity to make a Captain Sulu movie, or a Voyager movie.
So, to answer the question: No, I will not miss Data.

I can't say I miss Data. He was a good character, and I liked him, but everything must end so I take it as it is really.

I still haven't seen the film where he dies, so i guess he's still not dead to me, even though he is. It still won't be the same though, no matter how much B4 is like Data, or has downloaded his memories, it still won't be the same. It still won't be "Data", not to me. Just Data's brain in some stranger's articial body.

Opps, yeah, Insurrection,. I don't know why i was thinking Resurrection for. I was thinking Insurrection, but only the "surrection" bit came out. It looks pretty flakey, Nemesis at least, does look okay.

You mean Insurrection? That's the worst of the TNG films. I totally disagree with you. I enjoyed it so much. Especially the space battle and Riker uses a joystick. Riker - "Were through running from these bas*****" That was so funny when he said that.
