Who among the Star Trek Universe is your favorite species? I'd have to go with the Klingons. I admire thier strong beliefs, even if they don't always serve thier best intrest. I also find thier lack of sense of humor, well, humorous, LOL. Ecspecially Worf, I like how he often gets close to loosing his tempor when talking to his superiors. "Captain I DO NOT THINK THAT WOULD BE WISE" "Uggg, I'll do it" LOL. I also like the Ferengi's. There phlosphy is "Times of war is most profatble, times of peace is most profitable" I also have to admire the Vulcans, there quest for pure logic amazes me, perhaps because most everything I do is illogical. What are you favorite species? ~Myke

LOL Aliens, EWOKs were the furry creature from Star Wars Return of the Jedi. I'd think the Klingons would eat the EWOKs for lunch ~Myke

Ruined as in what way? 1. Reputation as a great evil character? I disagree, they are still great, especially after Voyager. My loving the Borg, grew exponentially after watching how great they were & still are even after Endgame. By understanding them more thoroughly, their past/behavior/reason for being/etc. Shows how great they are. 2. Ruined as in being crippled exponentially. That I agree, they are suffering a terrible blow, but they will adept. 3. Weak because of emotions? I disagree, I believe they are more powerful & meaningful for this kind of behavior It shows they are compassionate & that they even seek perfection in Emotions as well as Biology & technology & who knows what else. Even the cruelest beast have feelings. How many Generals do you think will show their feelings in the middle of a war field. That is why when we first met the Borg, we thought them as emotionless. But after understanding them more, in ST: First Contact & Voyager, its turns out they aren't heartless at 100%, just blinded & misguided, they will learn to accept other races as they are & see that not all are seeking Perfection in the Borg's point of view & find another way to bestow the gift of "Perfection" to other races a more ethical way. Hence I picture a peaceful relationship with them in due time, together almost all races will be one to help protect our own galaxy from others hostile races inside or outside our galaxy.

No they were ruined because of the way Voyager was really never challenged by them.
They were in Borg space for a whole 3 episodes of an entire season, there was so much they could have done.
They were shown to be weak. Sure Voyager had an advantage with 7 of 9 giving them useful information on the Borg, but there had to be things that the Borg could have developed to prevent the loss of 7 to be as big of a loss as it was.
Endgame killed the Borg because they inplanted that virus that not only weakend the transwarp conduits, but also killed off the Borg by infecting them with a virus. Remember the queen fell apart before she died and they showed other Borg doing the same as well. I doubt the Borg are ever going to be a threat again, if they even survived. Remember, they took out the Central Plexus, which I believe is the Borg HQ.
I just watched the episode with species 8472 mimicking humans the other day, and that was another species that never got a chance to be showcased as well.

The reason the Borg went easy on Voyager is because of 3 reasons. 1. Research on humanity, the Borg is doing a research on individuals & chosen the Federation as a target to do this research on, since they manage to defeat the Borg's first 2 attack. [something worthy to learn about that mere assimilation won't tell them.
2. 7 of 9 is on that ship, so the Queen won't bother having her personal attention on attacking Voyager, so she let her drones do it in their own way, meaning they have "open weaknesses" that only an individual leader [anything that equals to the Queen or Locutus] could anticipate. [Borg care for 1 another, as shown in many episode both in TNG & Voyager]
3. They owed their existence to Voyager. Because they saved them from Species 8472. But instead of letting them live freely & easily, they only reduced their effort on capturing Voyager.
The Borg will adept, its may be a great loss to our view, but its like a minor thing to them, that's just 1 Unicomplex out of hundreds, & the Queen is easily replaced [who knows how many past Queens have died before the Federation's time]. They still have thousands of worlds, millions of vessels & billions of Drones out there still.
I'm sure the Borg have experience such impact before in their history, in other words, nothing new of a threat.
As for Species 8472, its just a template for future shows. Voyager's journey is not only to learn more about Borg & find ways for the Federation to survive all the way till the 32nd Century, but also to create "templates" for future shows.
Species 8472, Hirogen, Seska's child, etc. etc.
these are all made for future ideas. In other words, future series
