Being all the way out here in Istanbul, sci-fi isnt shown much at all so I didnt expect to get to see Atantis. Thank god I can. the show is excellent but I always like to nick pick like some people all ready have ie the zat guns. I noticed on the pilot when the major picked up a wraith weapon to stab the wraith, why didnt he pull it out of her and take the new weapon home? they could do with the technology cant they? and why is it most stargate worlds seem to place their stargates in a nice green wooded land and not arid deserts, tropical jungles or a siberian type tundra? just the same old forest again & again but I suppose they can only do so much up there in BC. We really do not know whether there was a building where the gate was or not. Remember, in Atlantis, there is a gate in space, thus preventing people from just walking into it, they have to have a small enough ship to traverse it, and so far the wraith do not have small enough ships yet ALso with alot of the lands millions of years old supposedly, at one time they may have been protected, but over time the buildings fell and forests regrew.

Actually, the goa'uld also had a protected 'gate, it was shown in season seven, because Daniel was remembering the planet from when he was 'ascended'. So, there were more than two 'protected 'gates', but I do see your point. Of course, many people just see it as a peice of history, and don't realize that the bloody thing actually does anything. Which I have always see as odd, because wouldn't they discover papers of their ancestors' travels? *Shrug* I suppose we shall see how this comes out as time goes by. Also, be on the lookout for the next new eps of Atlantis (with Colm Meaney from ST: TNG and ST: DS9), and Stargate: SG-1 (with Charles Shaughnessy from the Nanny).

Yeah, it would make sence for alot of races to treat the gate like an artifact or something, much like we treat Stonehenge. And I didnt know Colm Meaney was going to be on Atlantis, that's great news!!!!

Not really. Look at Earths History. There is no writing from the time of the illiad(troy and the trojan horse), yet we do know it happened because they ave found evidence of it, and when Homer wrote the book, it was 600 years after it had occured. He simply wrote down what had been passed on. If he had never written it down, we may never have known about the trojan horse.

*Shrug* I guess you're right.
BTW- Was it just me, or on one of the Atlantis commercials did Weir and McKay...Kiss!?
I could've been seeing things, but that's what it looked like to me. Anyone know the commercial I'm talking about?

Finally watched last Friday's Aylantis, and my god were the Hoffman(or whatver they called themselves) messed up.
The win at any cost format is th eworng way to go, and I love how they simply left and told them to have fun and good luck.
I like how they know it will kill the wraith, but could also kill the human carrier as well. Brings new meaning to the term suicide bomber for sure.

I think it's cool they use Dell computers in the show, makes it seem more realisti to me, to bring Earth technology, recognizable technology with them to Atlantis!

I didn't know Dells were proned to breaking down. I've always heard they were great computers.
And being in Atlantis, the only way they could upgrade is if thier own computer engineers come up with the programs.

Dell's are prone to break down, them and gateway are the worst.
Both are neither upgradeable nor expandable whixh is why I never buy either of them again.

Why isnt a Gateway upgradable? I own a Gateway, and it's worked perfectly for me. The only reason it's offline right now is through the fault of my own, I got my hands in there and messed up the CD Rom drive, and cant re-install the drvers for my router untill I get it fixed.

Have you ever tried to upgrade the CD-Rom at all Myke? If not, you cannot. It has to be a gateway CD-Rom, you cannot go and buy a better CD-Rom at Best Buy and put it in there, same with the DVD-Rom and CD-R or DVD-R as well.
Its that kind of stuff that makes me stay away. If I want a better DVD-Rom, I should be able to buy it and install it without having to go back to the computer maker to do so. Also keep in mind, if you do upgrade it, you have to wait for them to get the part in stock(from overseas mind you) and then install it, unlike going to the store and buyng it off the shelf.
Thats why when you order a gateway or dell, there is a 2-4 week wait on the PC as well, because they have to manufactor it overseas, then ship it out to you, and wit Gateway clsong all theri stores, you can no longer go to the store to buy one.
Compaq and HP are widely available at any store that sells PC's and thus are the brands I stick to(primarily HP as the printers and scanners are the best)

BTW- Was it just me, or on one of the Atlantis commercials did Weir and McKay...Kiss!? I could've been seeing things... Yes, you were seeing things. If you want to see it again, go here ----> www.scifi.com/atlantis/ and click "next episode". It will have a little box that says "View Teaser". If you want to know who it is, read further. SPOILERS (I guess ) * * * * * * It's her husband, who appeared breifly in "Rising" (the pilot). Mr. Weir is played by the same guy who played Narim (Sam's Tollan love interest) on SG-1. That kinda bothers me, but I can live with it. * * * * * * * * END SPOILERS
