I loved the movie! I remember when it came out and came on tv my parents were watching it. So I watched it and found it really interesting. That's why I started watching the series. I loved James Spader as Daniel, but I like Michael Shanks to much to give him up.

In the movie an alien ship crashes, an alien emerges finds a human host - finds it is better than its previous host - that alien gives some guy 'eternal life'. Lives on Earth finds out about Egyptian mythology and transports slaves to another planet through the Stargate. The TV series is very different.

i agree the story is different, but it's based on the same principle-parasitic alien freaks invading a body and using non-technologically advanced human as slaves. i enjoyed watching the movie...but i prefer the tv series

This is actually one of my favorite movies, besides Lord of the Rings, but i do agree that the story line in the series is better than in the movie.
