You are not mistaken. Jack is now a General, and Sam is now a colonel. General Hammond is no longer serving in the SCG base, but off at the Pentagon or somewhere.

Daniel Jackson. I may be mistaken, but when were Jack and Sam promoted? They were either promoted after the Anubis attack on Earth, or on the first episode of this new season, of Stargate SG-1. Because the first episodes of both the Stargate shows was like 2 hours long, so plenty of room for promotion.

I see. Thank you.
I haven't watched the Atlantis series yet, because we don't have cable.

Hopefully when you get cable, they will start with the re-runs so you can see it. It's a pretty good show.

Just like with the Atlantis one, I was stuck. Here it was between O'Neill and Daniel. As much as I love Daniel, though, I just had to go with Jack O'Neill. And that's O'Neill with 2 Ls.

It was a toss up between O'neil and the big T. the one lines O'neil comes out with when under battle just crack me up and will never forget Tealc being asked by O'Neil what he wanted to do that night and the answer was 'I know of a place where human females wage mortal combat in jelo'

They're both good at one liners, but Teal'c had to learn humor. He picked it up quickly enough though.
'Mortal combat in jello' though is a strange way to phrase that...particular spectator event.

I haven't been watching it long enough to decide yet.
The O'Neill wit is fantastic
I love the way that "wise sayings" get mangled by Teal'c
I identify with the Jackson character (I was anthropology major in college until it occurred to me that I might actually want a paying job one day) -- and I identify with the "intuitive" or meta-synthesis leaps his mind makes. Happens to me all the time, and then I spend days trying to explain how I "got there" to people who just don't follow. Makes work interesting in an annoying kind of way.
I think we're only about midway through season 3(?) and one of my favorite scenes was after Teal'c was stung by that big honking ugly bug (I've seen bugs like that in Florida...) that was rewriting his DNA. He brings the girl who helped him out a new super-soaker. She grabs it and gets him good right in the chest. Daniel says something about maybe it shouldn't have been "loaded". And Teal'c replies, dead serious, "How else will she defend herself" and hauls off and soaks Daniel with her old water gun before heading off through the bombed out building after her.
We were rolling on the floor.
I have to stop reading RIGHT NOW before I spoil the episodes I haven't seen yet.

Probaly when General Jack O' Neil was promoted he is my favorite he is so funny and a funny leader. He is not boring at all. I prefer him to General Hammond but i miss him.
