What do you guys think of time travel? Do you think it is possable? If so, how would you imagine it is done? Would we just push a button, use gravity somehow, a singularity, speed of light? ect. And one cannot travel through time w/out taking paradoxs into example. Do we really travel to other worldlines as John Titor states, which would not cause paradoxs? Or do we travel into other times of our own contiuum? If time travel is possable, how come we havent had any confirmation of meeting someone from the future yet? Let us know your ideas and theories! ~Myke

There is already a thread called "Time Traveller" in the "General" section that pretty much discuss time travel. But if you want to start it all over again, I will pass this time. Besides, I have already discuss this endlessly on my board and would just repeat myself. LOL

I always found that thread to be based on John Titor. Deepspace9/voyager and I discussed it in detail, but i'm interested in hearing others opinions. and don't be shy Valderra, I've discussed this for years and have yet to grow tired of it, it's such a fascinating subject ~Myke

Past time travel is possible, there is no way. You just can't do. If you went back in time and tried to change something say like in Back to the Future you couldn't do that, becuase since it's in the past it already happened however far back you went. And seriously, how would you do it? Time is always continuing, so how would you come back? You'd have to come back to the time you started at (plus the time that eslaped), because if you came back the second you left you'd be going back in time again, because all that tim you were gone things were happening in the present time you left, because it couldn't stop just for your prespective, and how would the machine or whatever understand that, it could't, because you went back in time remember? And how would you time traveling in that process, how would the time traveling tool or whatever know what to "time zap"? Would it make a shield and all space enclosed in the shield time travel? The idea of redoing something and haven't something excalty how it was is totally imbecile (not the thinker mind you). _____________________________________________________
Now traveling forward in time is a different story, it hasen't happened yet, it would incase basically just be freezing yourself and speeding up your prespective. Which we can do anyday, naturally occuring or not. When you're concentrated on something, or being very paitent your perspective speeds up in a natural way, and say when you fall asleep, you can easily loose track off time, and if you didn't know better you could think you slept for a mintue, or it could be reverse, you thought you slept for a hours when you only slpet for a few minutes.

Time travel to the past has its problems, such as the grandfather paradox, and such, but it is not impossible. Time is a dimention, just like space is 3 dimensions, therefore, you can move forwards through it, and back.

It also depends on whi theories of time travel u would believe in....as to whether or not new timelines are created when the past is changed.....also...the way you describe is a linear thought.....even in DS9 the wormhole aliens talked about time exisiting in all points at the same time...there is no past...no future....all time exists and always will be...so u could technically change time if there is no such thing as past or future but merely a matter of travelling between diff ppoints in time.,..the possibilities are endless.

So you would really be just transporting yourself to a different point in time, not traveling to past or future.....
Eh, don't ask me. Time confuses me ;D

A different point in time, or another dimension altogether, depending o the circumstance, what you believe in, and what is the actual truth.

I was just coming to this forum to post something simular to this, pretty neat. Anyway: I watch all these Alien UFO shows, UFO's in the bible, in the past, and in the present. One thing seems to be strange, in each time period, all of it is described and logged as the same, and I just think at times that maybe we're being visited by..ourselves? The alien's we picture (big eyes, pale) are suits (like seen in 'Fire in the Sky' if I got the movie right, and that movie was based on something people said happened) Maybe the 'aliens' are people from earth in the future coming back to change things. And if not that, you have to think, if we ever do figure time travel out, we have to be with us ( ) right now, and have already been visited by..us. Its confusing to me sometimes, but really something that leaves me thinking.

You know, there is a new Sci Fi TV series that deals with this same EXACT theory, and is a GREAT show so far. I don't want to say the name of it, as you don't realize this untill the last episode of season 1, but if you have seen the show, you know what I'm talking about. ;D

Its really mind boggling, but I don't see how anyone could not be curious and interested in the thought of it. I know we got a dose of it in the Star Trek: Enterprise (for those who watch it) with the Temporal Cold War. Thats a though, and possibly what could happen in real life.

Time travel is pssible, but with the current technology, highly inefficient and impractical. It can be done if you can accelerate past the speed of light. The problem is, that the speed of light is infinite. No matter how fast you go, light will always be going faster that you. That theory holds true in most cases. However, by warping space, you can give yourself the boost to go faster. This is not as easy a task to accomplish as you may think. The fabric of time moves at the fringes of a black hole. Not only would you need some way to accelerate at an unbelievable pace, you would also need a way to escape the black hole. There is a safer, more efficient way of doing this. If you can make beams of light travel in a circular pattern, you can move the fabric of time more efficiently than you could a black hole. So the only problem left is making a way to go fast enough.
