Anyway, regarding the first film. I didn't like it as much as I liked the second film but it is essential to watch the first one in order to know what the story is all about. ;D

Alot of filmgoers still say that this was the scariest movie of the series. I was not scared of it when I saw it but I was thrilled at it's artistic aspects, the Geiger based space ship and aliens, plus the astronaut with the burst chest and the folding eggs were brilliant, aslo the very good visual 'Odesy' camera scopes which seemed to originate from the Odesy itself. Well okay, so I'm also a big going Ridley Scott fan but I think that even if the first alien hadn't been directed by R.S. i would still have loved it's uniqueness.
I think the most memorable horror scene was the chestburster scene, also dubbed the most disgusting by a world-wide audience. For me the best horror scene in the film was when the mechanic picked up the shed alien skin, not knowing what it was, it was a subtle scene but had you thinking all the more for it. : )

For those of us who had seen it for the first time in 1979, it was a pretty scary movie, as there was nothing like it on the screen before. Not to mention that no one had seen the alien before. A lot of people have seen pictures of the alien from either the movie or from Giger's paintings and have become desensitized to it. But, to a 13-year-old kid in 1979, it was thrilling!

I think this is ok. But since i am a 15 year old person living in 2005 i thought this film was not scary at all. It did make me jump when the face hugger jumped out of the egg though.
I thought it was ace with the chest burster came out at was just like surveying the area then quickly running away. The unfolding of the egg was good too.
The best film out of them all is aliens (alien 2).

There is no comparison between Alien and Aliens; they're two different genres.

True in comparison with the things shown on television nowadays many of the older horror films seem to lose their spice, however I respect the fact that each of them have taught the new Generations of film their props and pranks.
I also agree that there can be no comparison between any of the aliens films, as they were done both with differen't Directors and at differen't times, to me one was just as good as the other.
However I have to say it seems that if we keep advancing in the more digital version of horror as SFX is, eventually the real and more psychological aspects of horror will look alien. Which may or may not be a good thing, but it will still be cool.

The first movie scared the bejesus out of me. I barely managed to sit through the second. And that was IT for me. No more!
Even though the movie was horrifying in a grimly fascinating way, my imagination was captured by the idea of an ultimate wonder-parasite. A creature that could survive incredibly harsh environments, including exposure to vacuum and could parasitize just about anything.
It made me sit back and wonder if we're anywhere close to ready to go "out there" and explore. Incubated on a relative Eden as far as planets go, what makes us think we'll be able survive in the big bad galaxy?

I suppose one could have asked the same thing about traveling across the sea when it was thought that the world were flat. It's the sence of danger and adventure that humanity seeks to explore, once we have explored everything, we must go further, that is our nature. Hoever I think we started too early, because there is one last place on earth that we have not been able to delve into yet, or chart precisely... The ocean, who knows what all still lies unknown below it's waters? Isn't that a universe unto itself?

You know, I've thought of this before, and think that if we do find life out there eventually, it is more likely that we will find animals, such as these aliens, as opposed to intelligent beings. The genetic make-up of these aliens isn't that far fetched either. In fact, finding creatures with genetic make-up like our own seems unlikely since there are so many types of environments out there. Remember 'Signs' where water hurt those aliens? That is very plausible, so acid for blood doesn't seem that far fetched to me. I would hope though, that the day we do land on some planet life LV-426 and one of the crew members gets a parasite stuck on his head, that the science officer of the ship does in fact follow quarantine procedures, and isn't an android manipulated by 'The company' .
