Man you guys are more die-hard than I am! And that's saying a lot!
I plan to wait till the extended edition comes out to purchase it. I just can't see blowing the money on two versions of the same movie when I could just wait a month or two and have a version of the movie that was closer to the book.
They fooled me when Fellowship came out on video. I didn't know there was going to be an extended edition then, so I have two copies of it on DVD. I was really pissed too. I hate wasting money. LOL!

I hate wasting money too, Speed but to me this is not a waste. I am a huge Tolkien fan and anxiously await these films to come out. I can't just rent them as I'll probably watch ROTK 20 times before the extended one comes out. Yeah...I know...I have no life...lol

I didnt think the extended version came out untill sometime in November? Yes, its still some time before EE comes out I believe. For the last 2 they released the first DVD around August and the EE in November. They may bump the date for EE release though since they bumped up the regular version

But the extended version really isn't the same as the one in the theatre. It's a whole different cut. I mean it's basically the same, but I'm just so obsessive that I feel the need to have the original theatre version AND the extended edition. lol

I always purchase both releases of the LOTR movies. I love the books and so want to catch what wasn't in the theatrical versions. BUT I can't exactly wait months until they're relaesed either so I buy and watch the theatrical until they are.
I can't wait until ROTK EE comes out...if only to see the Houses of Healing scenes they cut out of the original in order to show Arwen cry all the time and Legolad prance around on an oliphaunt.....grrrr!!!
Oh and guys...it's rumoured to be released in August!
