I went to the Midnight showing of Return of the King last Tuesday, and I have to say, it was worth every hour of sleep that I missed!! I don't want to say anything about specifics in case anyone hasn't seen it yet. I know I hate spoilers sometimes. But without giving anything away, this was perhaps the best movie I've seen in my life, and I've seen a lot of movies! There are a few things that don't jive 100% with the book, but the movie is so incredible that it doesn't matter! They'll probably include everything on the special edition DVD anyway, just like the two previous installments of the trilogy.
At any rate, my recommendation for all of you (Even if you're not a LotR fan) is to GO SEE THIS MOVIE! Don't wait for this one to come out on video! It is SO worth it to hear the THX sound and see the movie on a huge screen! It's almost as if theatres were invented just for the sole purpose of showing this film. Well, this and the Spider-Man 2 preview. Not to mention the preview for "The Chronicles of Riddick." The sequel to "Pitch Black" which starred Vin Diesel.
Anyway, run, don't walk. Wait in line for however long it takes. It is WELL worth it!

The movie I was referring to was The Chronicles of R-I-D-D-I-C-K. Apparently these boards have a foul language filter of some kind and the name Riddick qualifies.

I saw ROTK the other day(Sunday) with my 5 yr old and he got sick so we had to leave. I'll probably go see it again sometime in the near future though.

I LOVED The Return of the King! I thought the Fellowship of the Ring was better, but...! And isn't Aragorn just...

***************POSSIBLE SPOILERS IF U HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIE**********************
I think one of the main things they did which made the last one so great was the way they did Gollum. the CGI was very real looking and the voice acting was great. i did have a couple scenes I had to nitpick with though cause they strayed from the book when i didnt feel they should have. first was when Faramir found frodo and took him to minas Tirith and was going to take the ring to his father. in the books faramir resists the charm of the ring showing the kind of man he is and helps frodo along on his quest. here they made faramir seem weak willed...didn't like that. and i also felt they left out a major part of the ending...when they go back to the shire and find out saruman has taken over....and have to fight to get it back...then when they kick out saruman and wormtongue wormtongues kills saruman and then the hobbits kill wormtongue. to me that was an important part of the books.

I liked the movie! I took my son to see it with me and it was worth the wait. I especialy liked the elephants. The graphics used for them were awsome . My roomatte told me that he hasn't seen the second one muchless the 3rd one so I had to rent the Second movie so he could see it .lol .. he is truly hooked now and can't wait for the 3rd movie to come out on Video. Must I lead all the men in this back woods town to the light of Sci-Fi/Fantasy geres?..lol

Okay Wolfman, here's what I'm hoping for, for the special edition DVD of RotK. Above all else, I hope they shot some scenes of the Hobbits kicking all kinds of ass on Saruman when he took over the Shire.
I, too, felt this was an integral part of the book which should have been included in the film. Though I'm no filmmaker, I understand why they left that out, due to running time and what have you, but I definately think ol' Pete Jackson should've included it at some point, being the LOTR fan that he is. Hopefully we will find at least one extra scene where the Hobbits kick Saruman's and Wormtongue's sorry butts out of the Shire!!!

I hope so too speed. i understand the time issue....it was already 3 hours long and this would have added like 15 more mins at least to the end. i seriously hope he has this in some bonus footage or something. the only other main thing they left out of the books IMO is when in the first movie he skipped by the whole section with Tom Bombadil and the wightwarrens. now it is not crucial to the storyline but it is a big part of the books. wish he had shot some footage of that scene too. ALL IN ALL GREAT THOUGH
now I wonder if he will do the Hobbit with Great Smaug the dragon. He needs to.

I would love to see him do a movie on the hobbit ..I hope he does.. hardly seems like the projects would be complete without it.

ROTK was definitely the best out of the three, but they need to make a The Hobbit movie, the Battle of Five Armies would rock the hizay! So many people with sons, creepy in my place. Well, as long as you dont know where i live, wheeeeeeee.
