3 Members has seen it thus far, so I'm going to throw a spoiler tag in the threads title, so fill free to hold nothing back. I did read Ember's post about the acting, and saddly enough, I expect that from a movie like this. Saddly I think they will try and let the Aliens and Predators sell the tickets so they dont feel the need to get weel rounded actors. Anyways, I still havent seen the movie, so I'll be back in this thread once I have in order not to see any spoilers. Have fun!

HMm... the acting... I never pay attention to it much untill someone else mentions it. *shrugs* I guess it doesn't bother me much, I never expected Oscar performances from a movie like this anyway. And YES it could have been longer - at least tack on an extra 20 minutes or something! Grr... But the Preds rule... literally.

And they all died within like 20 minutes. Talk about movie lameness. What's even the point in introducing characters, then, they're dead in a few minutes anyway?

No kidding! It was the same with all the Predators. They shouldn't have killed the first two off so fast. There should have been more fighting between the aliens and predators.

Hey, when a predator doesn't have its massive nuclear gun thing, It's a lot easier to kill That movie ruled. The acting, well, there's not really a need for good acting in a movie like this. Who cares about the humans anyway? The aliens are the good part ;D

Well I just watched it, and I loved it. They held true to both the aliens and predators as far as history goes, which is one thing I was really worried about. I also liked how the plot was set up, how the pyramid was built, how the Predator Race taught early man how to build then used them as cattle for harvest the warrior aliens for thier hunt. I think that was genious!! As far as the people go, I don't care about them at all. To me they were just extras in the movie, the true stars were the aliens and the predators. I watched to see those two species go at it, if I wanted to see alot of human element, I would have watched one of the older movies. That first fight though, between the warrior alien, and the predator was great. It showed just how tough they both really were, with the advantage going back and forth. Awesome!! I also liked how in the end, the Queen emerged, reminded me of Aliens, and I like how the Predator respected, and befriended that woman. Good stuff to see a Predator and a human team up to battle a mutual enemy. While I liked the movie, there did seem to be something missing from it. I don't think there was enough interaction between the Predators and Aliens. I would have liked to of seen more interaction between the two. And finally, I did like the end, when the baby warrior alien popped out of the chest of the dead Predator, and though it was cool he had some of the Predators DNA (by it's appereance) but at the same time, I didn't like that. The Predator was merly a host, not a genetic womb. When aliens pop out of Humans, they are aliens, not hybrids, like this case. However, we really don't know the genetic make up of a Predator, and this is the first time we've seen an alien pop out of a species other then a human, so I can't really complain here. All in all, a good movie. It was missing something that I can't put my finger on, but a good movie!!

actually....you are a bit wrong myke In the 3rd aliens movie on the prison planet.....the alien hosted itself in a dog inside the prison....and it emerged with a different makeup than the other aliens.....Ripley even commented how it looked, moved , and acted diff than the ones she was used to. So the aliens do take on some genetic traits of whoever their host is. I saw the movie today....AND frellING LOVED IT! I liked how the predator respected her for killling an alien and helping him..and he also realized she could help him since he was the only one left. and the whol,e thing was a trap from the get go....the reason they picked it up on satellite at all was because the predators powered it up so it could be seen....then they dug the humans a tunnel using that laser beam from outerspace....it had been 100 years since their last hunt...and it was time for their next one....all in all i thought this movie ROCKED....and I will definitely get it on dvd sometime.

You're right about the dog, I had forgotten about that. So the end was pretty good then huh? A mean ass alien that will be, half alien, half predator!! And yes, that Predator respecting the human woman, and them two teaming up was pretty cool. I enjoyed seen a human and a Predator working together. And the whole story made sence didn't it, I don't think anything seemed 'rushed' or out of place. Everything fell together nicely when it came to the hows and the whys. But, now, are we to thank the Predators for teaching us how to build civilizations? Sad thing about that woman though, no one will ever believe her about her story, she will never get the same repsect as she got from the Predators in her world.

Oh I love that - THANK YOU Predators for our civilization! Lmao... ;D And did you check out the weapon the woman recieved in the end? Good lord, talk about a souvenier... She got to hang with and kill with a Pred, received that mark of a warrior, then got that weapon... I NEVER wanted to be a chatacter in a movie so much in my life! All that aside, there really weren't enough interactions between the two species... it was lacking. But I'll never forget the part when that Pred was swinging that Alien around by the tail - cracked me up.

I know what she means, there was really only one good lengthy battle, and that was the first battle between the alien and the predator, after the other predator was killed. The rest of the fights were the predator showing off his skills to us, killing that one instantly before the face hugger grabbed him. The battle with the queen seemed to short as well, as if they were trying to show off the CGI more then they were trying to tell a story with that fight, like they did with Riply vs the Queen in Aliens.
All in all though, I can't complain, it was a good movie, the battles were nice, and they held true to both species, and that is a major plus. They didn't change something to fit the movie, like Freddy vs Jason, where Jason was afraif othe water. In Friday the 13th 6, Jason Lives, he chased that man into Crystal Lake, and lalter the lake caught on fire due to the gasoline. Nope, no character changes like that in AVP, which is the one thing I was afraid of.
Even the Predator respecting that woman held true to character, as in PRedator 2 we see them come retirieve thier dead Predator, and give Danny Glover the gun from the 1700's. He beat his predator, thus he was respected. He won the game, the hunt.

The stupidest thing in the movie is that they said we worshiped them like they were Gods... wtf?
The fight scenes were good, but it was overkill. Everyone died to quick.
The stupidest part is when the predator puts the mark on the girls face. It's acid, for God's sake, nobody would wince, they'd scream!
Wolf, you love the movie? It was the biggest letdown of the year. It had far too many mistakes. The alien bursting out of the girl's chest at the start was all too fast, humans worshiping predators like gods, when the girl kills the alien, ACID BLOOD, HELLO, when you stab something in the stomash it bleeds. WHERE'S THE BLOOD?
Need I say more?
