So there's a lot of controversy over this movie. A lot of people loved it, others thought there was too much going on to be as effective as the first two were.
Have you seen Spiderman 3? Did you like it? What are your thoughts?

Gonna make me recopy my review, eh? Figured it be easier, haha... Okay, I know some people are dissing on it because they think there is too much going on. Or too many characters.
Well, that may be, for some, but really, I don't think that's the big picture. The big picture, I think, is the underlying arc of revenge and forgiveness.
It was sorta Count of Monte Cristoesque in that Peter was fine and dandy, until his life started spiraling out of control. He wanted to blame someone for killing his uncle (Flint) and he also had this mysterious black power that aided him. He felt better, for a while, for thinking he had avenged his father's death. And there were forces working against him, like Harry.
But in the end, Harry eventually saw, with help from Bernard, that Peter/Spidey was not the bad one and he came to help his friend against the baddies. Also, to jilt Peter's messed up revenge fantasy of his uncle being shot in cold blood, Flint explained that it had all been an accident, a simple mistake. And, despite prior feelings and after realizing that revenge/dark suit power was not the way to go, Peter forgave Flint. (I think that was one of my favorite scenes in the movie).
So in the end, all was well.
That's just my take on it.
But, yeah, some people might complain that there were too many bad guys or too many "new" characters and scenes that appeared out of nowhere.. but I enjoyed that. I was expecting a big blowout with lots of bad guys against Spidey and it delivered.
And yeah, there were a few cheesy scenes, like when Peter was "dancing" around after he went and bought that black suit after he went dark. But a movie shouldn't be judged on that. (Heck, SpiderMan 2 had that "Raindrops" scene after he dumps the suit).
The only thing I was a little sad about was the ending. I was hoping for a bit more, but knowing what all came before it... I understand that them sharing an understanding hug was all in the best. Rushing into anything more would be just that, rushing it.
So, no matter what other people think or judge this movie on, I think it was plain awesome with just enough emotional and relationship stuff among the characters to balance out the outrageously awesome action sequences.

I just saw the movie so here is my spoiler-ish two pence about it: I thought it was a good sequel. The effects were awesome, sandman and venom were great. Sure, the movie did have its share of pointless scenes, like the one when Peter is dancing in the street, but regardless of that, it was great.

Indeed... My sister and I were laughing so hard when Peter was "dancing". Um.. I should put spoiler tags around my summary.

Indeed... My sister and I were laughing so hard when Peter was "dancing". they seem to be quite fond of inserting dance scenes in the movies, it was the same as the Spiderman 1 scene when he was walking/dancing in the street and he tripped.

I thought the dancing scene fit perfectly into explaining the kind of hold the symbiote had over him though. While it may have seemed pointless to some it was supposed to be an indicator of how the symbiote was affecting his psyche, as well as with thee scene in the jazz club.
A lot of people expect to see just lots of villain fighting and don't want to see good character development because it is too slow. I went with my wife and saw it yesterday and she was complaining that parts of it were just dragging out and going way too slow and I tried to explain that a lot of the appeal of Spiderman as a character is his personal life and the issues he has to deal with, he is not a typical superhero who just goes around fighting bad guys all the time. People seem to forget that. Personally I loved the movie and thought it was easily as good as either of the first 2 so far.
I also thought Church was a great choice to be Sandman and Topher Grace surprised me as Eddie Brock/Venom, he looked much tougher/crazy then I am used to seeing him such as in That 70's show.

Wasn't that in 2? When he gives up the suit? I thought the dancing scene fit perfectly into explaining the kind of hold the symbiote had over him though. While it may have seemed pointless to some it was supposed to be an indicator of how the symbiote was affecting his psyche, as well as with thee scene in the jazz club. Oh, I agree. Just as he felt all cool and better when he gave up being SpiderMan in the 2nd movie and they played "Raindrops..." and he was all happy, lol. But now this time it portrayed how "good" he felt to be all bad with the black suit and symbiote. I didn't find it pointless; it was just really funny. 'Cause he was so bad. And I think the jazz club scene was even more important. I can't believe some people rag on it, but that's how he was feeling. He was tuned into his dark emotions and wanted to get back at MJ for dumping him. Oh, I completely agree. There was plenty of action and fight scenes.. but it also contained a lot of character growth and development. If it didn't have all that, it'd just be another one of those mindless action movies. I also thought Church was a great choice to be Sandman and Topher Grace surprised me as Eddie Brock/Venom, he looked much tougher/crazy then I am used to seeing him such as in That 70's show. Yeah, perhaps.. but I couldn't get Eric from "That 70s Show" out of my head, however. I kept thinking, no, he's not mean! lol

Giving up the suit and not wanting to be Spiderman was part two, but I'm not remembering any dancing. The only thing I know for sure was Peter Parker looked like even more of a nerd walking down the street dancing in part three like he was John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_4LJP8EFfQ

There was a part in either 1 or 2 when he was walking down the street with his glasses on there was the song Raindrops pklaying, like Mara mentioned.

After he gives up the suit. He's walking to class or something and drops his books.

Yeah, and I wonder if he's just that bad at dancing... or if he actually had to purposely dance like that.

I'm sure it was all intentional. Didn't they something about the symbiont stuff enhancing one's personality in addition to enhancing aggressiveness? It really made Peter more of a nerd, but seemed to effect those around him so that they thought he was super cool.
