Lol, I'm going to have to be a stick in the mud and say that while i find this coversation VERY interesting it is off topic.
I agree with you all. The world is not ready for something like Starfleet. As you said we need to abolish things like money! You know what they say" money makes the world go round" well that's NOT right! Money is what - paper. I'ts immareriel(Sp?) if youy ask me. Our live's have become controlled by paper!!
People are starving and dying, Why? because they have no PAPER (money). Your right we need to unite the planet before Starfleet will become real *sigh*
I personally whink that if we wanted to we could make Starfleet a reality in 10 to 20 years. people seem "scared" of space (so to speak) Religios people, May i ask what religion has got to do with exploring space? we COULD probably make Starfleet a reality in 10 ti 20 but i think the people are not willing to make it a reality. This is what REALLY annoys me. People sit at home (this doesn't include us, lol) saying things like "oh yeah, we SHOULD be exploring space" etc. BUT if it came down to the crunch they wouldn't go out to make it happed (so to speak). We NEED to unite the world, Destroy terrorism (and if you ask me, anyone involved with it, Literaly destroy them) because terrorism is like the Borg. It assimilates people (so to speak). All these religious fanatics, or should i call them martyr's, who blow themselves up just to make a point are off there bloody heads. They go out and "assmimilate" people to believe what they believe, thus you get a vicious circle.
right, i'm going to go beacuse i'm touchy on this subject, and i'm hitting thease keys so hard i'm about to break my desk, let alone the keyboard!
*Red Spider continues rating and raving, he listens to the Voyager theme tune in order to calm down*

but in reality to them you are the one being the terrorist and the religious fanatic. religion requires a faith and a belief with no hard proof. someone ask you to believe and u either do or dont. to say we should just go over there and kill all the terrorists would not unite us. in the terrorists eyes they are the ones fighting on the side of God and we are the devil interfering with them. it is not really uniting the world when we tell people....either believe what we say and do what we tell you or we will kill you. I dont think the world will ever be united as long as there is oganized religion.

Ok, so saying we should kill every terrorist was a bit impulsive (a sort of say it before you thought about it situation). It just annoy's me that something as monumental as space exploration (and the creation of Starfleet) is being held back.

You know seeing how we are all in favour we should be raising the awareness of possibilities of programs such as Starfleet (though admitady it's creation won't be immediate) helping raise the awareness of it's benefits may help, Yes??

I think it would tak more then we have to offer to raise enough awareness to get the program going. Besides, we need to raise awarness on political issue first, as a foundation, but millions are already trying that with little no avail. As for killing the terrorists, I say go for it. I don't care who they think are the good guys, they are the ones launching first strikes. Even Adolf Hitler thought he was doing God's work. ~Myke

I agree with you myke about getting rid of the terrorists....i was trying to pint out though that that would not solve our problems and unite us as a world though. if anything it would alienate and split up the world more than what it already is.....thats why strafleet is a long ways away....hell..even in star trek it took the vulcans coming down to earth to unite the world and stop the wars....why should we expect any less of a miracle would work for us?

I agree and Hilter was nuts!!!!! IsnĀ“t it weird how, no matter how long ago and how many wars later, the name Hitler keeps coming up...? And sometimes there are even very educated comments about him - not !! I believe that people from every country should first turn around and look at their own history before going about and pointing fingers at other nations and/or their leaders. Goodness, we have right now some real a-holes who are no less dangerous in their own right at the top of certain countries. And there you have another good example why we can just forget about becoming one world in even the far future.

yes there are LOTS of countries that have dangerous leaders....no one said there isn;t.....north Korea's leader being one of the scariest right now....BUT...that doesn;t change the fact that Hitler was just a Tad misguided.....if you define tad as being A LOT...lol

I think the name Hitler reoccurs as he is a prime example of evil. I agree that there are those would would proably like to repeat his actions, if given the chance, but luckilly they are not given the chance. If Saddam Hussien had the power of Nazi Germany, then I'm sure he would have followed in Hitler's footsteps.
I can comfortably bash Adolf Hitler, as I know the 'facts' about him, even the good things he did like give a Jewish doctor complete immunity, the doctor that took care of his mother before she died. Be basically saved that doctors life, and protected him from the horrors of his monstrosity. He also wrote a poem about his mother, I have it around her somewhere, but upon reading that one would not believe it came from the mind of Hitler. He also used to go hungry and homless as he'd give his weekly checks to her sister and her kid.
However, as strange as it may sound, in a way I have to respect Hitler. A madman he might of been, but a genius nevertheless. There's also something to be said about a poor, homelss artist who eventually became dictaor of a country, and a took that poor country and transformed it into a world power.

reminds me of "space seed" when Kirk, McCoy, and Scotty were all sitting around admiring Khan and what he did back in the eugenics war...and spock raises his eyebrow"gentleman,!!" and starts to go into he is evil ruthless a murderer and so on...and they all laugh at spock..and say"as humans we can admire him him for certain qualities while we still find him evil" or something along those lines...i forget the exact lines...you can admire the genius....even if the genius is whacko.
