Politics and religion are always a dangerous subject.....because it basically all comes down to faith and opinions. Religion requires you to have faith in and believe in something just because someone tells you its true and to believe with them. Politics is basically you associate yourself with someone who shares your same ideals and values and if someone else doesnt like it...then a lot of people view that as a personall attack on them since they share the same views. I have always been open and willing to discuss things like that with people...because everyone has a diff opinion...some people hate bush and some people love him. but YES i definitely know those 2 subjects can start definite fights....they have since the beginning of time.

I have a difficult time accepting the fact that the French couldn't back us up during the whole Iraqi War. If it weren't for us, they'd all be speaking German right now! Paris had been taken by the Nazis for God's Sake! But.....I can understand where they're coming from....since I'm not a fan of the war myself. I support our people over there and hope they make it out alive. That's about it. I think we're fighting over oil when we could be sitting here advancing hydrogen propulsion systems or anything other than what we have now. Star Trek needs to become reality......SOON. Speed i agree with you. Just think how much this Iraq war has cost us. Billions, Which could of been better spent - On our space program

Starfleet has too many ranks - what they did to deserve to have those promottions is beyond me. Space exploration is and should be for its own sake, not to involve anyone. If I had my own warp capable fully automated starr ship I would do all the exploring as much II want without having anyone around. A powerful computer on my ship would guide me througgh the stars. I could beam down on planets where it is possible where I find mysterious civilisaitions. Better still I may never have to that. All I would do is beam down rovers which would send back holographic images of that planet surrface, it would be as if I am on the planet and experriencing being there without really being there. They could be placed on every part of the planet. I would know everything about that culture and language of those 'aliens'. I could add it to my library and email it to all my fellow explorers. provides there is furture version of the Internet.

Starfleet though is a semi-military organization. That is why the ships have weapons, there are battleships, you have rank structures and so on. The UFP is like the government part that is dedicated to exploration and cooperation between species, and Starfleet is the tool they use to achieve their goals.

Yes! That would be really cool if we had something like starfleet one day. There are probally a few things that are far out about it, but it would indeed be cool1

I'd sign up for Starfleet Acadamy in a heartbeat. ;D LOL me to! I have always been interisted in space. When I failed all of my other classes, I always got an A in science (when we were learning about space). So I think i would do good in it.

The problem with having Starfleet is assuming that humanity is united and is not at war. There differences in religion, culture, languages and race. The issues of the people of this planet are many and myriad. There would also be the question as to who would be heading Starfleet - would it be an organisation like the United Nations with an elite inner circle UN Security Council which some permanent members. The Security Council really decides everything other countries are left they can make as many resolutions as they like but no one really cares about them so if there is a Starfleet it most probably would be run by the prevailing world powers of that time, the rest of humanity will be mere specators.
