XKAMELX,
I’m quite fond of Dystopian SF, such as MR. GEORGE ORWELL’S 1984™ & THE PRISONER™.
As for SFTV, I am very fond of BABYLON 5™, SPACE: ABOVE & BEYOND™, FARSCAPE™, NOWHERE MAN™ & VR-5™.

When it comes to Sci-Fi televition i lap up as much as i can get . however, like several previous posters, its the space setting that i really enjoy. Stargate, Farscape, Firefly and Trek are all faves'. With movies my taste is pretty much similar. However when it comes to books i particularly enjoy hard sci-fi, with a strong element of science fact. like the work of Ian Banks, Peter F Hamilton or Alistair Reynolds.

I like them all...doomsday, post-doomsday, space epic, inner-space, alternate reality, galaxy-spanning civilizations.
Some of my favorites are the pre-golden-age sci fi written in the 20s and 30s. What seems like trite old plots were brand new and fresh in the hands of writers (who may or may not have been any good). There was one I read that had warriors traveling through space in ships, then armoring up, grabbing their swords, mounting their horses, and charging into battle. That took a big chunk of belief suspension!

I enjoy all types of science fiction but time travel is by far my favourite, Any type actually that makes you think about the world you live in, the universe, space or time, imaginary or reality is a good sci-fi

I like almost any type of SF, just as long as it's not MC, with the exeptions of Futurama and Red Dwarf.
P.S.:MC means mass consumption.

Star Trek has shown it is not just about the adventures of Enterprise. Voyager and DS9 showed that there was a great deal more. Why does Star Trek just have to be Earth and the Federation. It could also be about the adventures of some Klingon Empire star ship or even the Romulan Empire. Another could be what life is like in within the Federation itself. Not discovering new worlds but how the members of the Federation have are adjusting in the worlds they have settled in.

I agree syborg. I'd love to see a post Dominion War ST series with a strong interest in the Klingons. An ancient social order was coming to an end in the Klingon Empire during the last few years of DS9. I'd like to see the new order evolve.

Too many films and TV shows have been made about Earth either being conquered or invaded, the people of Earth are portrayed as the 'good guys' and 'aliens' as evil. There should be one about humanity trying to conquer an Earth like planet or planets, To 'boldly seek out and conquer new life and new civilisations'.

I like science fiction novels, movies, shows, etc that include a ton of "action". Action like huge battles every so often in space or a small number of troops fighting huge space aliens that out number them 15 to 1.
Also, I agree with space novels, movies, shows, etc. The onces that have a mood that gives the reader or viewer that mood. A sence of great expance is one of my most favorite moods.

I like to read all kinds of science fiction. I like stories that have a lot of science in them as well, like some of Isaac Asimov's work etc. Sci-fi about robots can be very good, as Asimov and Dick show very well. HG Wells is good, and I have read The Time Machine and War of the Worlds which were both very well written. The Time Machine is a very good example of a utopia-gone-wrong (I wouldnt quite call it a dystopia though). There is some very good modern sci-fi as well from the likes of Ken MacLeod. I was very impressed by his book 'Star Fraction' and the rest in that series. Its nice to get a varied spread of sci-fi so that it never gets boring.

Hmm.... Definitely something involving aliens and outer space. If a big [government] conspiracy is involved, even better.
