I like to read all kinds of science fiction. I like stories that have a lot of science in them as well, like some of Isaac Asimov's work etc. Sci-fi about robots can be very good, as Asimov and Dick show very well. HG Wells is good, and I have read The Time Machine and War of the Worlds which were both very well written. The Time Machine is a very good example of a utopia-gone-wrong (I wouldnt quite call it a dystopia though). There is some very good modern sci-fi as well from the likes of Ken MacLeod. I was very impressed by his book 'Star Fraction' and the rest in that series. Its nice to get a varied spread of sci-fi so that it never gets boring. About the only SF I haven't liked is the multi-generational soap opera genre. I can't seem to get interested in those kinds of series. Other than that, bring it on ;D. One novel I really enjoyed was David Brin's "Earth". It was written in the early 90s, but it did a very good job of anticipating what the Internet would evolve into, and has some interesting ideas on where our internet-driven society/government/economy will be in 20-30 more years. Plus of course all the other changes that are liikely if no course corrections are made. It's a sobering read.

I like everything Sci-Fi, but especially things that have warring aliens, like AVP, and also Star Wars rules without a doubt.

Well here we go first post. Any Sci Fi is good as long as there is a well thought out storyline. My favourites though have to be H.G.Wells. I just wish Hollywood could produce a movie of his books that comes reasonably close to the original story.

I probably like Aliens tearing themselves apart or ships battling. What ever have intense sci-fi battles and action or even suspense, that's what I would watch (star trek is also my one of my favorites.)

hmm... I pretty much like all kinds of sf, but my favourite ones involve time traveling, space traveling, future apocalyptic worlds, natural disasters... The more fantastic and harder to explain the better I love it! And it definitely has to involve some good psychological and philosophycal problems, to raise some really good questions!

I rather like time-travelling Sci-Fi, which is probably what got me into Doctor Who, as time travel is its basic premise. Also I do enjoy the odd story set in a Dystopic-Future, which Doctor Who deals with as well. (Do you notice something here?)

Science Fiction and fantasy is all that I like, TV is not worth watching if there is no science fiction movies are pointless if they are not science fiction. But I don't really care about magic etc.

...............sometimes our imagination is just an extention of what we want to see in real life - another reason why I like science fiction so much. Alot of the Sci-Fi we see, will become a reality one day... one can only hope.....top two sci-fi theme that always tie for first place for me are time travel and space opera (no, that's not some pigtailed woman singing at the top of her voice!) I'll risk even a B- movie for a time travel theme, but no paradoxes please.! If an item is involved, the movie better explain where it came from! One of my favorite short stories is "Absolutely Inflexible" which involves a personal time travel device....the only irritating thing iis where does the machine come from in the first place? ??
