OK, I watched the first premier episode of SG Atlantis. Yawn.... Seems to me that it´s just the same as before, just with different people. Frankly, I have seen enough of SG1 to last me a long time so I won´t be watching it unless I happen to stumble onto the channel...

Ahh that sucks Valderra, that you didn't get to find a new series you liked. I think it is completly different from SG-1. As I've always said the differences between the two can easily be compared to the differences between Star Trek TNG and Star Trek DS9. But are you really ready to judge a new series based on the premier episode? If I were to judge DS9 on it's 2 hour premiere, then I would have never stuck around and discovered that DS9 is the best Trek series out there. Atlantis is stll bran new, and only have a few shows under thier belt, but it has so much potential!!

I tell you what started to bore me with SG1. Every time they popped to a new planet, there were "humans" there, who all lived as humans have lived at various times on Earth. Like that one episode where everyone was dressed like in the middle ages - there were several of those. I mean, can´t they think of something better than make the people on each planet look and act like humans did throughout history? I know, I know... they are all suppose to be originating from Earth. But that doesn´t mean they have to follow the same dress code and such as humans have? And those Mongols in one episode, where Carter was suppose to dress like a woman and not talk back... I mean, why? They might as well have made a programme about time-travellers who visit different periods on Earth - same thing... And so, when I saw this new Atlantis programme... where do they pop to? Another planet with people who look and act like those on Earth. The only difference is that the baddies now look like fish-men. Sorry, but I do expect more of a programme to keep me glued to the set, especially since I have seen it all before.

OK, I watched a couple more episodes and haven´t changed my mind. The only person in here worth watching - the guy who played the terminator policeman - got himself killed right at the beginning. Looks like he just hasn´t any luck with staying very long in any series. LOL Well, those fish people are a real joke, as far as I can see it. They are NOTHING compared with the Goa'uld, who looked commanding and powerful, and - in some cases - rather handsome. I have now seen the series up to where Atlantis gets to the surface and now they are floating in that ocean. Anyway, I am not going to search for it every week. If I stumble over it, I might watch, otherwise I am not interested. At least Stargate was GREAT (also largely due to the characters - I find the characters in the Atlantis series a terrible yawn) - even though it got a little repetative towards the end. LOL

Well like I said, that sucks for you, that you didn't find a new series that you liked. And by 'fish people' I assume you are reffering to the Wraith? The life suckers? I think they are quite creepy, and make excellent new villians. Taking nothing away from the Goa'uld, but there is no initial appeal left to them anymore, since we've seen them for so long. I enjoy having fresh new villians to combat with. Ecspecially ones that defeated the Ancients!!

Yes... the Wraith... I find them repulsive, to say the least. And villain or no villain, I don´t like watching someone or something that looks nothing but repulsive. ;D I guess the producers had the idea of imitating ST and bringing out another Stargate series but I don´t feel it works. I really couldn´t care less about any of the characters in there, never mind the Wraith. But that´s just me - I am rather picky.

I actually kinda like the Wraith. They make for an interesting bad guy, much like the Goa'uld. Both are arrogant as hell, and in the Wraith's case, usually well earned. Aside from blowing them up to tiny pieces, or starving them, they're usually very tough to stop.
They do seem to lack charisma (?) though. They don't have style like the Goa'uld do, but no one can have everything right?

I don't really see the "strength" in the Wraith... I havn't seen what makes them so powerfull, I know they are hard to kill, but maybe next time wait to set off your explosives when they are... actually on top of the claymore...

I think that is a postitive though. It makes them a bit more mysterious, and leaves alot of this to be explained. Now, it will only be good if we do get explinations, but I think we will. It leaves open alot of roads for the story to take in the future. I'm sure as the Wraith evolve as characters, we will learn what makes them so strong.

Thats what is so great about them. We do not know what they are like. Its just like what they did on DS9 and slowly introduced the Dominion into the flow of things, this way we do not know everything right at the beginning, because if we did, the show would get boring. Remember other humans have found ways to destroy the wraith, yet in the long run, it would not do a bit of good because we still do ot know exactly how many wraith there are yet. We also do not know if they are like the Borg either, where if you take out the mother ship, all are affected either, which makes them unique, because we don't know everything about them yet.

I'm glad you are liking it, not because I like it, but because it gives you one extra show to watch and enjoy! ;D Yes, that was a cool episode huh? I havent seen anything like that before, and that alien thing on Major Shepard was just gross, lol. They did get themselves stuck in a tricky situation. I liked how they all thought they were going to die, lol. I forget how they ended up geting out, didnt they activate the thrusters to push them on through thr stargate?

Yes, they "pushed" the ship through by engaging some thrusters, after they were able to detract those wings or whatever they are, back inside the ship. I wasn´t quite convinced when they said that only the whole ship can go through all at once, indicating that also the people on board were seen as part of the one ship. Otherwise, all the people on board had to do is step through the gate to the front part of the ship and then they would be transported to Atlantis. So I am not buying that they couldn´t have just stepped through to the front and emerged at the other side... Never mind, it was suppose to be suspenseful and NOT realistic. LOL

LOL But that is the way the Gate works. If they did the way you are saying they should have, that would have been unrealistic. It doesn't make sense that way.
