It was a matter of time of course, but I thought it was ironic that we finally reached the episode where Daniel crosses over to Oma's lifestyle during this discussion. Sigh! I know he comes back, and it was kind of interesting to watch the following episode. Everyone but Carter seems to be dealing with it ok...and there's an implication that there might have been the potential for a romantic relationship between the two. I never thought that kind of chemistry was implied between the two characters . At the end of the episode as the rest of SG1 heads off-base for dinner, there's a little ripple of wind at the elevator to the surface, as though Daniel might be along for the outing. Nobody seems to get it but O'Neill...the one who never gets ANYTHING. Funny!

I knew I was going to like Bratak in the first episode where he appeared, Bloodlines in Season 1. In this episode Teal'c returns to Chulak to save his son from having a symbiote implanted. In the end, the implantation has to go forward, or his son will die of an infectious disease.
Bratak put O'Neill (who likes to complain about his aches and pains) in his place right from the start. "Not bad for an old man." Bratak reveals he's 130 years old before he wipes the floor...um dirt...with O'Neill.
Several seasons later (I forget which episode) Teal'c reveals that he's 100 years old.
Bratak has been a great recurring character. When I see Tony Amendola's name in the credits I know it will be an interesting episode with a lot of Jaffa angst!

the two main characters O'Neill and Jackson are the best two characters and have made the show basically the great sucees it is today.
Season 7 was greatly improved with the return of DR Jackson. Stargate itself is also ther best sci fi show out at the moment

Welcome asguard! I really can't make up my mind about a favorite. The SG1 team is a great combination of characters and actors. An ensemble!

From what I have seen of her she is really smart....but also has a bit of an ego to go with it.....that really shines through when she has her fights with Dr. McKay who ends up going to Atlantis....he was always breaking down her work and it made her soooooooooooo mad....lol I also remember an episode where she thought she lost O'Neill in some strange gate thing....and they had people there for weeks studying trying to figure out how to get it open and get him back..and after they couldn't and the scientists were leaving she copped an attitude and said" this mission is over when I say it is" and the scientists said nope....it's over....if General hammond orders us back here thats another thing...but for now we are leaving....her passion and emotions can take over her personality too much sometimes and they end up controlling her.

That episode occurred about halfway through season 6, after Daniel Jackson "ascended" at the end of season 5. All through season 6 it appeared that Jackson's death was eating at her in a way that O'Neil and Teal'c simply did'nt experience. When O'Neil was lost (apparently her fault) she was unhinged with grief. I liked that episode. It brought into sharp focus the ways the different members of SG1 dealt with the lost of a good friend and comrade.
O'Neil had communicated multiple times with Daniel and absolutely knew he wasn't "gone".
Teal'c has a very different view of death and afterlife. He missed Daniel but was convinced he was movin' on up.
Carter had neither the sure knowledge that Daniel wasn't gone nor the acceptance that "movin' on up" was a good thing. Although she's an effective military officer as well as a scientist, Daniel's death was the first time she'd lost someone really close to her in the series as far as I can remember. There was the "might have been" ambassador whom she was married to in "2010", but when they encountered in the "present" it was just chemistry, no opportunity to develop into something more. Add the long-standing unrequited "chemistry between her and O'Neil and it made perfect sense that she'd blame herself, refuse to give up, and even demand that others keep trying.
So, the grieving and hints of irrationality she showed over Daniel's death and the apparent loss of O'Neil were very much within the character development to me. It was a good episode, and part of a good development of an emotional thread all the way through season 6. More to say about Samantha Carter in general, but you brought up an interesting and key episode, Wolfie...had to cogitate and reply!

LOL...not too many eppies stand out in my mind for certain characters and that was one of them.....she was being a real bitch....she would have spent 10 years looking for a way to get o'neill back if she had to....it was the one where the one deadly agent who escaped prison was with them...I always forget his name....but the one jack doesn;t trust....he is opening up a strange gate....he zaps Carter and then goes thru and O'Neill follows him...and they end up on some supposed paradise planet where everyone killed each other....just so we make sure we are talking about the same eppie
