Without Hammond, SG-1 and SG-C would be nothing. I think people always overlook him as a central character, more of a stand in. But he's one of the coolest people on that show. For example, when during the whole 'Kinsey' episode, his acting was superb, not to mention he brought a lot of unseen things to the show (with regards to his character)
Top class.

Same here, I did like Daniel in the beginning. And regarding wanting to spread their wings... That's all very well, but since they are in a TV programme, that relies - to some exptent - on the characters being around, they should at least have the decency to stay until the programme is finished. Some of these actors know that they are "indispensible" and often ask for the moon after a few seasons and when they don't get it, they decide to walk (we really don't know why Shanks walked, God alone knows what went on behind the scenes) and then they think that the producers will beg them to come back AND raise their salary. Well, stuff it. I'll bet Michael Keaton thought he was the one and only Batman and that no one could replace him and asked for so much more money that they just got someone else to play Batman. And once again, it shows that NO ONE is indispensible. So anyway, I think the decent thing would have been to stick with the programme OR if he wanted to leave, DON'T COME BACK, especially if it means that others don't get the chance to stay till the end and get their break, like this guy who played Jonas. And talking of Mash and "Old is when"... LOL I like the programme and the movie. ;D Umm... you are so wrong about this. This has nothing to do with Shanks' behavior. Daniel Jackson was not supposed to come back, but so many fans protested and wanted him back so the producers had no choice but to "Save Daniel Jackson". The "Save Daniel Jackson" idea began here: www.savedanieljackson.com/

The two stars of Sg-1 Ben Browder and Michael Shanks look almost like twins - they could easily pass off as each other's brothers. Their appearance and mannerism seem exactly the same I wonder if anyone else has noticed this?

Is the new doctor of Sg-1 related to the new general? The actors aren't (if that's what you meant), but on the show Dr. Lam is Landry's daughter.
