Saw the episode with Rene Auberjonois tonight.
It was hard, but in a way not hard, to picture him as the leader of a "racial purity" minority. I swear he can play ANYTHING with conviction. From the alienated and feared changeling to the autocratic ethnic purist, and anything in between. His character "looked" like Curzon Dax, interestingly enough. That's fairly close to his "civilian" look.
Did it seem odd that SG1 would close the iris on him that way? That they wouldn't even consider the possibility of convincing the racial purists of the error of their ways, and ending their world war peacefully (and possbily scoring some cool technology)? Very strange episode. So much useful technology flushed over an ideological stumbling block...that could possibly be remediated. But this is the Air Force, not Starfleet. Have to keep reminding myself!

We finally saw the episode with Marina Syrtis this week on DVD. She played a Russian scientist in the episode Watergate. Nice pun, that one. Great episode.
We also got to see one that I've been DYING to get to ... forget the title, but the "groundhog day" time loop one. This episode really showcased the "ensemble" feel of the cast. Seeing the same events unroll again and again in slightly different configurations really caused me to focus on the facial expressions. Teal'c is one smug son of a gun sometimes. Daniel Jackson's eyebrow gymnastics almost put DeForrest Kelly's to shame, and Sam Carter is almost winsome as she looks confused about O'Neill's moon-eyed stares.
When Daniel finally plants the idea that O'Neill and Teal'c esentially have unlimited 10 hour playgrounds that no one else will even remember, then the games begin.
And I have NEVER seen anyone eat sticky, clumpy oatmeal with so much pleasure. I'd love to know what Daniel's question was, though!

Oh oh oh!!!
I watched Tangent last night! Saw Daniel say "I am the great and powerful Oz"! I was dying laughing.
Since Sam's dad had also said "What am I, Scotty?" just a couple scenes earlier, I was already laughing. At the time the line was being set up, I thought..."Ok he's either going to say he's the great and powerful Oz...or he's going to say 'We are the Borg. Resistance is futile' ".
Now, I'm wondering when I'll hear "I'll get you my little pretty, and your little dog, too!"

I think I'm getting a little obsessive about these references...
In 2010 tonight I noticed a tourist at the SGC museum in a background shot. He was getting his picture taken in front of the replica Stargate. He raised his hand and made the "Live Long and Prosper" gesture.

I saw one the other day that had a referance to Alf. A guy was seeing beings that live here on earth in a different dimention. O'neil told him that they were aliens and they would be going home soon. But the guy wasn't allowed to tell anyone he had seen them
As they were walking off, the guy asked what planet they were from and O'neil answered "Mailmac"
I almost fell out of my chair laughing!

I think it's cool that so many people crossed over and did special eppys like that. All the referances are great too! No wonder this show Stargate is so cool! Kapt~`'-

I watched "Desperate Measures" last night. This is one of the episodes featuring John DeLancy (Q). Maybourne, too. And MAN has he lost weight since his earliest appearances. A life on the run seems to agree with him.
The NID finally achieves one of their most desired goals in this episode...A goa'uld, new to its host and completely without access to any goa'uld technology. Should be interesting!
Back to DeLancy. There's a scene where O'Neill storms into his office in the Pentagon to try and find out what's happened to Carter (she was kidnapped by "ninjas"). On a table behind DeLancy is a figurine. I kept looking at it thinking ... "Nah, couldn't be!". But it was.
A bronze figurine of a Civil War soldier.
I was laughing so hard I had to back up the DVD and catch what I'd missed.

But I didn't notice the figurine Did you see the one the other day about the senarios for the new "prospects?" One of the sceens showed one of the cadets kneeling down in front of a burned out Pontiac Firebird. You could tell that at one time it was a black car. I backed it up and watchit several times to see if I was right, and I was! It was K.I.T.T from Night Rider! The cutout for the front "Cylon Eye" was there and everything! Kapt~`'-

I haven't seen it but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.
They must have a lot of fun putting all the little joke props and things into the show.
I wonder how many of them go right over my head?
I did hear another Oz reference the other day. The episode where they meet up with the Enshen(sp?) again. On a farm planet. O'Neill said "Just when you think you're not in Kansas anymore, you are".
