I haven't seen it but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it. They must have a lot of fun putting all the little joke props and things into the show. I wonder how many of them go right over my head? I did hear another Oz reference the other day. The episode where they meet up with the Enshen(sp?) again. On a farm planet. O'Neill said "Just when you think you're not in Kansas anymore, you are". Heh! I heard that too and it didn't even register Kapt~`'-

That's what I mean...I wonder how many references I don't catch. Even though I'm looking for them now. One day I'm going to have to start again with episode one and go through them with a fine-tooth comb.

Season 6: Redemption Part 1
This episode kept us laughing for a number of reasons...mostly O'Neill's lines. He had to work overtime without Daniel Jackson to help with the one-liners.
When the Russian Colonel demands that a Russian officer replace Daniel on the team, his initial response...
"Over my rotting corpse"
General Hammond suggests he take some time and give it some thought. To which O'Neill replies something to the effect of...
"I'll do that sir. However I believe my considered response will be 'Bite me'"
But the one of the best laughs was (of course or why would I put it here?) a Trek joke.
Sam was in on this one. O'Neill and Carter are going through their preflight check on the soon-to-be-aborted maiden flight of the X-302 (a 100% Earth version of a Death Glider). As O'Neill calls off the systems and Carter confirms their status, he asks...
"Phasers?"
"Yeah right!"

Checkov ;D Anyway, if he's not allready on the list, I saw Dwight Shultz in one last night. He was the Keeper. Basicly Barclay in a different costume Kapt~`'-

The Other Guys was on the other day. That's the one with Enterprise's John Billingsly in it. That's a great one for Star Trek stuff. He compares himself to being a Red Shirt and a few other humorous things as well. Great eppy!!

Wow! We watched "The Other Guys" (season 6 episode 8) tonight and I don't think it gets anymore trek-gate than that episode (not yet anyway!). Enterprise was on the air at that point, so I think there was no way to have Billingsley as a guest star without several hat-tips to Trek.
John Billingsley plays a Yale math nerd/trekkie named Coombs. Yes! THAT Billingsley -- Dr. Phlox. There were so many Trek references that we laughed so hard we kept having to wipe the tears and back up the DVD and watch them again.
My two favorites were "How can you call yourself a scientist and not kneel at the alter of Roddenberry?", and "We might as well be wearing red shirts!"
His companion scientist scorns Coombs' trekkiness and is a die-hard fan of the SG-1 Team, commenting "At least my heroes are REAL" -- tear wipe/dvd back-up time!.
The episode was about half over when O'Neill made the comment "You ended that sentence with...a...PREPOSITION! you -----". The cadence was reminiscent of Kirk's delivery. I remember someone commenting on the preposition line...thought it was in this thread but apparently not.
In real life, so many scientists, engineers and technologists have gone on record as having been influenced in their career choices by the Trek series and movies, so it makes perfect sense that some of the nerdier SG teams would have trekkies and trekkers in their ranks.
Anyway, my ribs have finally stopped hurting from all the laughter. I think this episode is WAAAY up there among the best of the funny ones. In some ways it was funnier than Wormhole X-treme.

I was looking on gateworld to see if they made much of the trek references...not.

I had to watch The Other Guys one more time tonight. Billingsley did a great job of playing a geeky buffoon. Not at all the self-possessed Dr. Phlox we all know and love. Coombs was tossing cookies, bumbling, and scared half to death through most of the episode.
One of my favorite non-Trek-related lines in the episode was uttered by O'Neill..."We're on a MISSION, you NIT!" to the hapless nerds who had stumbled along in order to "rescue" SG1. And at the very end, as all 6 of the SG members are scrambling through the gate just as the Jaffa back-up team arrives, O'Neill pauses, turns, and gives a little "Ta Da" arms wide gesture. One close miss of a staff weapon though, and he dives unceremoniously into the wormhole.
